My Kinda Music

My kind of Music ;) Love Metallica :) I'm a Rocker at heart :)

They are soo Proud!

They are soo proud they collected these stuff!
Why allow it in the first place?
And you call yoursleves the "Authority!"
Shame on you!
Why allow it in the first place? Why allow the chaos? The craziness? The injuries and deaths? Why not celebrate our national & liberation day as a National & Liberation Day supposed to be celebrated? Fahad and I were at Sultan Center Sharg, we left Soug Sharg from the bridge side, kids as old as 6 years old standing on the side walk of the bridge with their bored nannies (who careless if a car hit the kids) foaming passing cars. One kid jumps from the pavement and on the road. Fahad had to break suddenly so he wouldn't hit the kid. Where are the parents? Are your kids so worthless to you? My sister begs me to take Abdulaziz to Julai3a with her. I said "No". I don't like my kids to be exposed to this kind of craziness. We don't approve of it so why be hypocritical and let them join in this idiocy. Besides they are already crazy without the extra encouragement. My sister doesn't understand. She thinks me em3aqeda. Now I tell her, God gave me these two boys eb6al3at alroo7. I don't have to go over the drama of every delivery and the time spent in ICU and teetering on deaths door. They are my kids. It is mine and their father's job as their parents to protect them. When something feels wrong to their welbeing then it is wrong.
What if you're sitting with your friends enjoying the fun while a crazy guy comes with his speeding car and hits my son? What would you do? How many times did this happened to other people?
If God forbids something happens to my baby while he is with me, I am his mother. I know what to do. I protect him as much as I can and I wouldn't lay the blame on anyone. How many times he fell from his horse, I rush him to the hospital, and still I put him back on his horse the next day. He is my responsibility. Back to the main topic. I urge everyone to oppose this chaotic madness. Call upon the authority to forbid it from now and on. We want to celebrate our National & Liberation Day like the civilized people that we are. Close the Gulf Road and turn it into one huge parade and carnival event. Let people enjoy themselves without the harassment.

Diet Update

Ok…since I don't have a scale I don't how much I lost in Kg, however in the 81/2 inches I needed to lose which I mentioned in a past post, I lost 1 1/2 inch. Two weeks I was following a low carb diet and I only lost one kilo. Now I'm following the Gandhi diet, literary not eating much at all and appeasing my hunger by drinking lattes, lots of water and soups. The mood swings are, of course, on High. You might wonder why this extreme? I have major events this month it is going to be super busy and I want to look my best! Here is what I was eating two weeks ago: Breakfast: Latte w/half cup of cornflakes – weight control oatmeal (I normally have oatmeal if I'm spending a long day out of the house it keeps me full until late afternoon) – omelet with mushrooms and light cheese (It also keeps me full for a whole day) – Saj bread with low fat labnah or white cheese tomatoes and cucumbers and olives. Midday snack: Lowfat fruit yogurt – 2 piece of fruits Lunch: I start with a small bowl of salad : Chicken spinach soup (it has chunks of chicken and very filling) – Fish fillet w/ veggies – shish Taouk w/ homus - kebab w/ homus – I try to vary between fish and chicken most of the time. Afternoon Snack: lowfat yogurt – snack size chocolate or diet care mini desserts Dinner : Salads: Green Salad – Greek Salad – Chicken Cesar Salad . Late night snack and not every night: Cadbury's Highlight Chocolate. I exercise about 1h 1/2 every day depending on my schedule. The least I do is a 30min brisk walk if I am in a rush. Now I've cut my intake of food in half. My exercise routine is still the same. As the French would say "il faut souffrir pour être belle" *Sigh*

My Breakfast

This morning I woke up feeling hungry. HUNGRY! The last thing I ate was lunch around 3pm. I had a fruit yogurt around six and that was it. This morning I want to indulge myself. I wanted something sweet and filling. Mushroom omlette? Not in the mood. Crepes? No…I'm too hungry to wait for the mix to settle. French Toast? Sounds like a good idea! Eggs, skimmed milk, vanilla, cinnamon, lite butter…hmmm sounds all good. Bread? Out of toast, but I have some brown burger buns. That would be nice to try this time. I slice the bun soak it in the mix melt the butter. The aroma fills the kitchen. Now where is the maple syrup? Ouch! Out of maple syrup! Not a problem, acacia honey will do the job even better! Now, for drink, Hot Chocolate sounds very very good! Where is my Cadbury's Highlight Chocolate? 40cal a cup!!! YUM-O!
Sliced brown burger bun.
French Toast with Acacia honey. Very Yummy.
A closer look at the yumminess I had for breakfast!
Of course Abdulaziz took one slice, Ahmed took another and
I had only one ;) It was still good and filling.

Bad Day

I had a very long day, I slept the evening before around 3.36am because I was glued in front of the TV watching a cooking challenge marathon on one of the food channels and I knew when I realized the time the next day wont be so good. My day started at 7am with Ahmed playing with his PSP on the bed next to me. "Yalla mama goom! Soof! I Kill! Busted!!!"
Please no! One more hour of sleep! But eventually I gave up and got up. I still did not have my latte and some clients started calling around 8am asking me about certain products and prices. I couldn't add or multiply simple numbers! It's going to be a very looong bad day!
Mid day a friend called and we were chatting girls stuff and I said to her "Chaussurat". Now you might wonder what that means. "Chaussures" which in French means shoes, and the "at" at the end of the word is in what we add in Kuwaiti if we are sometimes talking in plural. For example, the only word I can think of at this hour is '7amat. Back to the main topic. If I'm mixing my Arabic with my French then the computer in my head is overloaded! It doesn't end here however. Abdulaziz calls me, complaining about his brother. I scold using three languages simultaneously in one sentence. Dalool go back home! Get in Bed! Gabel la etfashleen nafsich jedam clients! But I had few new flavors sampling to try before they go out to potential clients and before I could leave. They were good.
After a late afternoon meeting, I went to pick up an outfit I bought, from altercation and the store manager tells me there was a mistake with the pricing and I have to pay KD200 extra!!! What? Sorry! I was told the price is so and so… and I'm not buying a premier designer dress for you to charge me this amount of money!
"Ra7 tet6aba2 3ala rassi!" she was telling me.
Not my problem.
I don't know what's wrong with these people. She was really giving me a hard time about it. First I'm not a regular customer at this major store which most of you will surely know, because I don't like dealing with them. Second when I went there in the first place I wanted to browse and when I found a piece I liked I bought it without a second thought. I came straight from the factory. I wasn't kash'7a 3ala "singat 3ashar" or as one of my friends would say "Labsa el Kabat kella". These people are very well known for judging and treating people based on appearances. Since I wasn't that known to them, and didn't look my best at the moment I was there. I was treated like crap!
Fahad called at that moment asking me when I'll be home, and I told him what was happening. He was yelling on the phone! His voice could be heard by people at the other end of the store! Al 7amdillah mo ga9erna shay. It is a matter of principal! I got a dress and they told me it costs so and so. I paid without hesitation and now they tell me there was a computer glitch which has messed up with the pricing. Again. Not my problem.
Anyway, I have to mention that I don't wear a wedding band. In fact I don't wear jewelery at all. I only do on formal occasions or if I was "Kash'7a 3ala singat 3ashara!" which I rarely do. So the store manager asks me if I was speaking to my husband. "Enti 2lti hewa zowjek…" she said with a big question mark, and the insult was very obvious.
I snapped! Snap! Snap! Snap!
No sleep. Long Day. No food, and this ugly nasty woman was insulting me!
The sleeping berserker in me came out! I will not elaborate on the stuff I said, too ugly and not in my character unless I was pushed, no, shoved into it. I took my dress without paying an extra Fils to it, with a promise that ra7 aftha7hom 3end allah oo '7alga and the management will hear about it!
I reached home very much drained. I had a three way call with my friends and told them what happened, apparently I'm not the only one who had a bad insulting experience with this particular store. Most of my friends faught with them at some point or other.
I went to bed on a hungry empty stomach. Yay!

Gorgeous Kuwait!

This Shot was taken by me :) on my way to our store
in Ahmed Al Jaber Street.
Doesn't it fill your heart with pleasure???

CranEnergy

Do you like Ocean Spray Cranberry juice? I love it! my kids love it! The other day while I was shopping I found these new CranEnergy in three different flavors in Pomegranate cranberry, Raspberry cranberry and there is a third flavor which I don't remember. I've been drinking from it the last three days , usually during the afternoon when I feel at my lowest, tired and drained. It boosts my energy and I feel great after a glass of this juice. The best part...it is sugarfree!!!

Sloppy Joes

For lunch I wanted to make Sloppy Joes. I've been wanting to make it forever but every time something comes up and I change my mind. I also have picky eaters who don't encourage me cooking new stuff. However it wasn't the first time I make Sloppy Joes. I make it for casual gatherings with my friends, and it is always a winner. Yesterday I was watching one of the food shows, and Hunky Chef Tyler Florence was making his Ultimate Sloppy Joes. It was different from the one I make he uses turkey instead of beef and the sauce mixture is different. So I decided to try his recipe minus the turkey. I stopped at Sultan bought the missing ingredients and was home starting on the chopping and prepping. Fahad, of course, didn't want Sloppy Joe, so I made him a beef patty on the side. In the end he finished my Sloppy Joe.

Chef Tyler Florence. I think most women will

agree with me there is something Yummy about a man

who cooks.

My Sloppy Joe. Grilled Bun topped with Sloppy Joes Beef
Sweet Relish and Coleslaw.
Home made Potato & Butternut sqaush Chips.
Fahad's Burger. He wanted it simple with just Ketchup and mustard.
Home made potato & butternut squash chips. Fahad's Burger at a different angle. They were all sooo good! The kids had Sloppy Joes like me. They Loved it! I'll post the recipe this week inshallah.

The Early Bird Jabriya

This morning I went to the Early Bird Jabriya with my wonderful friends Genuine Shosho and Profound Somsom. I arrived first. I waited twenty minutes in the searing sun until a table was cleared inside. Actually the table cleared when Somsom arrived. Maybe she is my good luck charm? But then, a bigger table cleared when Shosho arrived, Yay! I have double good luck charms! So we scooted over to the bigger table. From now and on I'm taking them with me everywhere. I know I've sidetracked as usually. Back to the Early Bird. The place was small. Four tables inside, and six tables outside. I arrived around 9.30 Mashallah the place was filled and there were already people waiting for tables. I guess a couple of weeks from now, and if the weather continues to warm up at this rate, I doubt anyone wants to stay out. My friends ordered American Coffee. I had a Skimmed Latte.
Strawberry Pancakes
Hash Brown with Sausage Fruits with Muesli & Yogurt
Monto Cristo
My order, Bite Size French Toast with yogurt maple syrup,
Which I loved sooo much!
My friends shared some of their food and they were all delicious! The staff were friendly and the place was very cozy. There was a mix up with the check at the end, apparently we paid for the breakfast of the young doctors who were sitting next to us. But it was all resolved with a laugh and in good grace.

How a Good Nights Sleep Can Help you Lose Weight

If braving the pool or hitting the gym has never been your style, here's a new way to keep your weight in check: get a good night's sleep. Growing evidence is suggesting that not only does sleeping enough help you look and feel good, it can also keep you thin, the UK's Daily Mail reported. New research from Birmingham in the UK suggests that some of the 60 percent of Britons now considered overweight or obese could be that way because of sleep deprivation rather than just diet.
"We have done a series of studies looking at weight and sleep, and studying the metabolic rate," says Dr Shahrad Taheri, a consultant endocrinologist at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. "We discovered that people who sleep for significantly less than seven hours a night often end up being obese."
People who get fewer than four hours' sleep a night are a staggering 73 percent more likely to pile the pounds on, while insufficient sleep can result in cravings for up to 3780 extra kilojoules a day. Research has shown that even for people who did not suffer from weight problems prior, when subjected to sleep deprivation their weight increased. "Lack of sleep seems to stimulate the hormones that regulate appetite," Dr Taheri said. "It leads to higher levels of ghrelin, a hormone that triggers appetite, and lower levels of leptin, that tells your body it's full." And the worrying news is that the problem is set to worsen. Since 1960, the average night's sleep in the UK has dropped from nine to seven hours, with half of people reporting that they are often so tired at work that they long to go home, the Daily Mail reported. "The longer you're awake, the more time there is to eat," Dr Taheri added. "And obesity is likely to lead to broken sleep. Weight is a factor in sleep apnoea and snoring, which are more likely to wake you during the night, so you can end up in a vicious cycle." Your say: Do you find it hard to regularly get a good night's sleep? Are you often hungrier when you are tired?

Diet Update

Yesterday I was at the doctor and when I went up on the scale.... I lost only 1Kg!!!! I started crying I was already frustrated and stressed... and still the Kgs are still where they are. In appearance there is a difference but in numbers on the scale not much change. In inch I lost about 1 1/2 inch on other parts of my body but around the waist which is my problem area only half an inch since the last time I've mesured. :(( The doc thought I was over eating wella 6ay7atla ice cream every single day and hour. Luckily I keep a diet diary, I plan my meals ahead and write down what I ate and what changes I made. I asked the doc for diet supplement and the only thing she suggested was Reductil which is a No NO for me.... I'm already stressed I'm not in the mood for more strain. A friend suggested that I should shock my system. For example for a whole day I only eat fruits! I'm doing it today and we'll see if there will be any change. Yalla Al7amdellah 3ala al 9e7a oo el3afia :)

My Guilty Pleasure

Say what you want… It doesn't make a difference to me. I love books and I love romance. Reading romance in different genres is my guilty pleasure, my stress breaker, which takes me out of this world and into the world built by fabulous writers. I have to confess though, my favorite genre is Fantasy and Paranormal romance. I've been reading about Vampires, Werewolves before the Twilight craze has hit K-Town. There is Anita Black Vampire huntress, a kickass which half of the paranormal world are in love with her, while she is out to kill them. There is the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Guys you'll love these books too…because they are filled with hard rock, crazy weapons and all sort of monsters and crazy action. I've read all of Sookie Stackhouses books and I'm waiting for the latest book release before Sookie has hit TV in True Blood. As for Fantasy, There is the Black Jewel Trilogy with some following books about secondary characters. I have to reread these books every single year. The BJT is what has introduced me to the Fantasy genre, Kushile Avatar Saga, The Tamir Trilogy which still gives me goose bumps when I think of the first chapter in the book, The Nightrunner series and many many more. The latest books I've read, that was last week. Were the Drakon series. I've read the first book, The Smoke Thief, few months ago. It was the story of Rue & Christoff. The Dream Thief, which I read last week, it is about Rue's & Christoff's youngest daughter, Lia, and Rue's protégé Zane the Thief, which takes them halfway around the world to the mother land of the Drakon, Zaharen Yec. It was a pretty hot story; I loved this part better than the other two. The last book is about Kimber (the eldest son) & Princess Maricara, who is a princess of the Drakon from Zaharen Yce, it was a feel good and there is always hope and love conquers all kinda of book. At the end I discover there is a fourth book, The Treasure Keeper, which has already been released. It is about Rue's second son, Rhys. I'm waiting for it to arrive with my next order of books. Some might find it silly books, but there is a big group of my friends and cousins who loves these genres and we swap all the time. I still read those boring intellectual books. Just to see what the hype is all about and in the end I could say I feel "Illuminated" & "The depth of Emotion is So Intense" although most of the time I don't get what's it's all about. Blah! Below a small summery about each book. For centuries they’ve lived in secret among northern England’s green and misted hills. Creatures of extraordinary beauty, power, and sensuality, they possess the ability to shape-shift from human to dragon and back again. Now their secret–and their survival–is threatened by a temptation that will break every boundary....Dubbed the Smoke Thief, a daring jewel thief is confounding the London police. His wealthy victims claim the master burglar can walk through walls and vanish into thin air. But Christoff, the charismatic Marquess of Langford, knows the truth: the thief is no ordinary human but a “runner” who’s fled Darkfrith without permission. As Alpha leader of the dra´kon, it’s Kit’s duty to capture the fugitive before the secrets of the tribe are revealed to mortals. But not even Kit suspects that the Smoke Thief could be a woman. Clarissa Rue Hawthorne knew her dangerous exploits would attract the attention of the dra´kon. But she didn’t expect Christoff himself to come to London, dangling the tribe’s most valuable jewel–the Langford Diamond–as bait. For as long as she could remember, Rue had lived the life of a halfling–half dra´kon, half mortal–and an outcast in both worlds. She’d always loved the handsome and willful Kit from the only place it was safe: from afar. But now she was no longer the shy, timid girl she’d once been. She was the first woman capable of making the Turn in four generations. So why did she still feel the same dizzying sense of vulnerability whenever he was near? From the moment he saw her, Kit knew that the alluring and powerful beauty was every bit his Alpha equal and destined to be his bride. And by the harsh laws of the dra´kon, Rue knew that she was the property of the marquess. But they will risk banishment and worse for a chance at something greater. For now Rue is his prisoner, the diamond has disappeared, and she’s made the kind of dangerous proposition a man like Kit cannot resist.....
In the remote hills of northern England lives a powerful clan with a centuries-old secret. They are the drákon, shape-shifters who possess the ability to Turn—changing from human to smoke to dragon. And from the very stones of the earth, they hear hypnotic songs of beauty and wonder. But there is one stone they fear....Buried deep within the bowels of the Carpathian Mountains lies the legendary dreaming diamond known as Draumr, the only gem with the power to enslave the drákon. Since childhood, Lady Amalia Langford, daughter of the clan’s Alpha, has heard its haunting ballad but kept it secret, along with another rare Gift....Lia can hear the future, much in the way she hears the call of Draumr. And in that future, she realizes that the diamond—along with the fate of the drákon—rests in the hands of a human man, one who straddles two worlds.Ruthlessly clever, Zane has risen through London’s criminal underworld to become its ruler. Once a street urchin saved by Lia’s mother, Zane is also privy to the secrets of the clan—and is the only human they trust to bring them Draumr. But he does nothing selflessly.Zane’s hunt for the gem takes him to Hungary, where he is shocked to encounter a bold, beautiful young noblewoman: Lia. She has broken every rule of the drákon to join him, driven by the urgent song of Draumr—and her visions of Zane. In one future, he is her ally. In another, her overlord. In both, he is her lover. Now, to protect her tribe, Lia must tie her fate to Zane’s, to the one man capable of stealing her future—and destroying her heart....
At the start of Abé's inventive third novel (after 2006's The Dream Thief) to feature the drákon (creatures who appear to be extraordinarily beautiful humans but can turn into smoke or dragons at will), the English drákon, who believe they are the last of their kind, are delighted to learn of another drákon tribe in the Carpathian mountains, ruled by alpha princess Maricara of the Zaharen through her nonalpha brother. The English drákon, led by their alpha lord, Kimber Langford, earl of Chasen, send emissaries from their stronghold of Darkfrith in York to Transylvania, but the emissaries are murdered en route by a secret organization dedicated to the annihilation of the drákon. Maricara journeys alone to England to warn the English drákon of the danger. Romantic fantasy fans are sure to look forward to further installments in this winning series set in the late 18th century.

How to Woo Women Like a Romance Novel Hero?

This is hilarious! Guys...if you want some pointers on how to woo your woman then read on ;) I found it on one of the blogs I follow. Here is a link. http://www.loveromancepassion.com/how-to-woo-women-like-a-romance-novel-hero/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ReviewRomanceNovel+%28Love+Romance+Passion%29
Disclaimer: My tips are not guaranteed to work in real life. They are merely conclusions drawn from the literature I love to read and are meant to be fun and taken lightly.
First tip right off the cuff: Never insult a girl who reads romance novels. Whether you find them trashy or not, you need to support the literature of her choice. If you don’t she will throw a 1980s rapist alpha hero at you. I don’t imagine the results will be very pretty for you. So do take care. The second thing you need to know is that every romance novel perpetuates love between the hero and the heroine as an automatic given. He gets the girl after courting her, even if he doesn’t realize he’s courting. He might think of it simply as seduction. And some heroes are just clueless about the whole process. Romances play off the idea of the soul mate, the one and only and occasionally second chances. Does that mean number two is not as good as number one? No, that’s why the book was written about the second love instead of the first. Where am I going with all of this? The sizzle of attraction. I’m not talking about simple ordinary chemistry. I’m talking about potent chemistry. Chemistry that has your entire being screaming (as it did in Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie) “THIS ONE!” Attraction is the foundation for first contact between leads in romances. If you’re not attracted to her, why are you pursuing her? If she’s not attracted to you, it’s not going to work either.
3 Tips on Being Attractive Without Being Friend Zoned:
1. Nearly every romance novel has a condensed relationship. Physical attraction is rapidly pushing both characters toward each other (and I don’t mean just in the sack!) Make your move sooner rather than later. Snails move faster than you.
2. Since I’m pulling from romances, I’m going to warn you that this tip is superficial. You guessed it: appearance. Almost every hero is smartly dressed and muscular/fit. Some heroes have chest hair, some have facial hair, some are smooth as a baby’s bottom, but they’re all well groomed. So comb your hair, throw away those shirts with holes, and take a shower.
3. Alphas, Betas, Omegas, and Nerds in romances all possess purpose. Being purposeful gives you an aura that is both sexy and attractive. Find what inspires you, makes you happy and psyched without a girl and keep that a vital part of your life. It's just a bonus if it's something you and her can share.
Courtship. Usually by the courtship stage in a romance there are many indicators of interest on both parties (even if they are still refusing to acknowledge it openly) starting with physical cues.
Blushing, stammering, blood racing, eyes gleaming, all these are physical cues which go right back to that potent chemistry I was talking about earlier. Look for these clues in her and yourself. Do you get a buzz from being around each other?
Other indicators are touching, flirting, and kissing. The hero and heroine in a romance novel are always participating in casual touches, banter, and passionate kisses. Some of the most common descriptors for kisses in romance are devastating, intoxicating, slow, deep, and hungry.
It’s the hungry that I would like to take a look at more closely. What does a hungry kiss imply? It implies a few things—the first and foremost a singular craving for the other person. You are dying for a taste. (Back off Edward Cullen, I didn't mean quite so literally!)
It also indicates that the physical hunger is in part, a manifestation of deeper underlying emotions. Not only is she physically appealing to you, but the inner person is appealing also. (Chocolaty on the outside, crunchy on the inside with just a hint of caramel.)
Be sure to express the pleasure you find with her in every manner possible in both verbal and nonverbal ways.
Declaration of Love and Marriage Proposals.
Heroes of romances always have great lines even if they tank in practice. Take Jane Austen’s Mr. Darcy: “You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and adore you.” Who doesn’t swoon at that? (Well, okay, except for Elizabeth.) Sigh...
Mr. Darcy is the person in front of you in a competition who just wiped the floor with you before you even had a chance. But don’t be disheartened, just because Darcy’s a tough act to follow doesn’t mean you’re completely incapable of making a woman swoon. Like I said earlier, he's got the lines but his execution left a little to be desired. Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth tanked, just as Mr. Thornton tanks his when proposing to Margaret. Don't know who Mr. Thornton is?
Watch North & South...
Here is a link to the decleration...I just hope it will work...if not go to the original post you'll see it there ;p
Conclusion: Don't be afraid of a shaky dismount, just be sure to stick it. If they can come back from being shot down so completely, you can too.
But the words! How do I find the words?
Of course, all the great lines from heroes are scripted to them by writers, most of them female. We know how tough it is to come up with great lines in the heat of the moment, heck they're hard to find when you've got time to plan them out, and we don’t expect you to hand us the perfectly scripted line. In fact, I’m pretty sure the perfect line will be one that comes to you naturally, even if it’s silly or embarrassing. If it sounds like you we’ll trust it, love it, and accept it.
Though you really can't go wrong if you stick with, "I love you, please marry me."
Good luck!

K- Open Day

Abdulaziz and I went for a quick stop at K-Open Day in Movenpic Free Trade Zone. We took a turn admired the small businesses wares and goods. "GOOD JOB!" Shout out to all.
