Ahmed's B-Day Breakfast @Cocoaroom

Yesterday was Ahmed's Birthday and we will be celebrating it until mid next week I think.
Anywho, the boy wanted breakfast at the Cocoa Room. He wants their cheese and mushroom omelet and their chocolate pancake.
So we went. While placing our order he told the waiter that it was his birthday and that he was turning six. The waiter congratulated him shaking his hand. Oh Ahmed was very pleased.
I was planning to order their chocolate pancake after the boys finished their breakfast and I even brought candles with me. But the staff surprised us with a plate of pancake with peanut butter and caramel sauce and chocolate sauce on top, and they sang happy birthday to Ahmed. The rest of the diners also clapped and cheered wishing him a happy birthday.
Ahmed was really taken by surprise and overwhelmed.
"Mama how do everybody knows its my birthday!" He exclaimed.
He made his wish (he wants to be the invisible man so he can go choke people. Just don't ask) and enjoyed his pancake very much!
So thank you Cocoa Room <3 br="">

Blowing his candle

I really liked these pancakes loved the chocolate,
 peanut butter and caramel combo.

And here is birthday boy so happy!

Bice Restorante

Last weekend Fahad and I decided to try the newly opend Italian restaurant Bice, in AlHamra Tower. The atmosphere is elegant! Very classy! A place where you'll enjoy looking and feeling good. Pure European elegance.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I loved how the hostess who took us to our table asked what kind of menu do we want, Arabic or English. It surprised and pleased us very much, because I read English menus and Fahad prefers his in Arabic.
The waiter was very informative. He suggested dishes for us to try. We were very hungry and I would have loved to try most of them, unfortunately we couldn't order everything on the menu, which means we have to visit the place again to try other platters. :)

The lighting in the restaurant was soft, with beautiful framed pictures hanging on the walls.

The Chef sent us a complenmentary starter.
It is either calimari or sea urchin...
I can't remember. Help! But it was good!

I loved the green pesto and red pesto and the olive paste.

Usually I don't touch the bread basket at restaurant.
But this basket was different. As soon as they put it on the table the aroma of the freshly baked bread filled the atomsphere and awakened my hunger! It was so delicious!

That is Fahad's piece of bread with the trio pestos.
They were all so delicious and full of flavor!

Fahad being a tradionalist went for a Caesar Salad.
He liked it very much.

I being more adventurous than my hubby, went for a salad with a long name that has some mysticism in it. It is salty and sweet and fruity! I loved it very much, and very different from some of the boring salads I have everyday ;p

The decore in the restaurant is simple and elegant.

Main dish we shared a mushroom risotto.
It was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

Fahad ordered a veal.
I had a bite from it. Very tender and delicious.

I on the other hand went for the baked Hamour. It wasn't on the menu but the waiter suggested I should try it and it was a winner in my book!
I am inspired! I want to replicate this dish but with my own touch.
And will post about it when I do ;)

Desserts!!! Fahad had the Tiramisu.
He liked it.

I had the chocolate souffle. OMG!!! OMG!!!
The best souffle I have ever had! Loved the chocolate, not the cheap kind. The souffle was cakey on the outside and sooo gooey on the inside, and the cream around it enhanced the flavor.

Chocolate ooozing from inside the souffle.
So gooooood! I didn't want it to finish.

And after such a meal....
a cup of Espresso to keep my eyes open for the drive back home.
Before the end of the meal, the restaurant manager Mr. Valerio Ienco. He was making sure that everything was good with us and happy with the food. He was very kind and explained about the top quality they insist on serving the customers, and honestly if you're a foodie you will know how fresh the food is without anyone explaining it to you.

I highly recommend you try Bice.
The atmosphere and the food will transport you to
Italy and their elegant delicious food.
Give it a try and tell me what you think.

Breakfast @cocoaroom

In my home breakfast is the main meal...
We love to indulge and we love to eat at places where they serve delicious hearty meals and the cocoa room is the place to go on a cloudy cold morning.

I love this tiny detail on the table, a lemon pierced with cloves to ward off the flys and it works!

iPad with pictures for the kids ;p no!
Nothing sweet before you have your eggs boy!

Mama stop it!

So we started with Manousha half Zaatar half Cheese...
It was thin, crispy and just the way I like it.

The staff we're really friendly and the service very good.
When I go to restaurants I love the music when it's tuned on low, not too loud but you can still hear  and enjoy it and have a  conversation with the people with you.
I loved their music selection... an eclectic collection with some oldies which I play at home and the boys know very well... Abdulaziz started dancing on "Dance like an Egyptian" by the bangles ;D

I came today for this! Egg Benedict with shredded
beef on a piece of muffin.
It is one of my favorite on their menu!

Abdulaziz & Ahmed shared an omelet
with cheese and mushrooms.

Fahad had and omelet with veggies and pita bread.

Again the boys shared French Toast stuffed with Nutella

Nutella was oozing out on the plate as we cut through it!

Fahad and I shared brownies pancakes... So yummy but the portion was too big... I couldn't finish mine.
We took the rest to go.

From another angle! After you eat this you need to walk for three hours and fast for the next two days! ;p ...
no really I loved it!

Gelato Italiano Indulgence

I woke up yesterday from a very restful nap craving some Gelato. My freezer was empty of gelato, I had few containers but they were all experimental flavors.
I was craving the chocolate gelato with the 70% cacao Swiss chocolate chip and the vanilla bean gelato. So I called the store asked them to prepare for me a 1/2Kg and sent the driver to pick it up.

The best part about gelato is you pick the flavors you like and get inventive in the comfort of your own home ;) And indulge as much as you like ;p

Earlier that day I was at TSC and picked up the Daim nuggets and Flake 99 thinking about treating the boys since they didn't have any sweet treats all week.

Et Voila! Vanilla with double chocolate Gelato Italiano topped by home made salted caramel sauce Daim nuggets and chocolate Flake!!! Yum! Yum! Yum!

Summer is Here With Gelato Italiano

Few weeks back our business suppose to participate in Alwan Exhibition at Dar AlFunoon. At the end, on the same day of the exhibtion we pulled out, because the old shrew 'qaleelat aladab!' who owns Dar AlFunoon, decided at the last minute that she doesn't want ice cream in her exhibtion house.

Anywho… for the exhibtion we had some Yummy flavors which we prepared and small gifts prepared for visitors and my bloggerette friends who I was expecting to stop by.

Since, we didn't get to distribute them, so we sent out the gifts out to family, friends and my sister bloggerettes.

These are some of the posts from the bloggers... enjoy them and hope you pay us a visit soon.

Merci Laudree

A week ago I got a call from Laudree wanting to deliver a package for me. I found out the package was their Espahan & Divine cake but it got delivered to the wrong house. I really appreciate their thought and it wasn't a big deal and I assured them of it.

Yesterday I got a call from them and they had another package they wanted to drop by. This time I got it.

Thank you Laudree… really you didn't have to.

Now when I got the bag, the first thing I noticed was the pastel green paper bag. Reminded me of the paper bags we got from our Boulanger, back then when I lived in Paris, same quality and same texture. I was thrown back in time! The early mornings when two paper bags were delivered to our home filled with warm buttery croissants and other yummy pastries just out of the oven.
*sigh*
La belle vie!

Back to the present!

I opened the bag, it was filled with four mini sample pastries, two croissants, one plain the other with walnut paste, one pain au chocolat, and one sugar bun. The aroma hit me right away and I wanted to have a bite from each! Even when I wasn’t feeling hungry! You think I'd share??? No! I ate them all by myself like a little thief ;p

Encore Merci Laudree, and I will definitely pass by to give your menu a try.

 YummYumm!!!

Breakfast at Baking Tray

I enjoyed my first visit to Baking Tray that I wanted to give it a second try. I was feeling guilty that the boys didn't enjoy their Christmas break, being stuck at home, but I know the boys enjoy good food. This time we were joined by my sister.

As usually we were early. The staff were cleaning and prepping when we walked in, but were welcoming.

We placed our orders for a Mushroom Omelet (for the boys), Turkey Omelet (for me) French Toast (for my sister). Hot chocolates for my sister and the boys, Ice tea for me.

The food was superb! I loved my omelet. I'm craving it now as I'm writing about it at this moment. The Ice tea was amazing! I loved it! The boys enjoyed their food so much and so did my sister. I tried the French toast, it was very good but I felt the portion was too much.

Of course we left with two dozens of their famous yummy cookies :) or our visit to BT wont be complete ;)

Now I want to try their homeslice. What do you recommend? ;)
