New Scent

The other day my brother took the boys
with him and when he brought them
back I've noticed my boys smelled soo delicious!
When I asked him about the scent he showered
my kids with he informed me it was Chanel Blue.
It is my boys new winter scent. I love it on them.
It is so fresh, so rich and it is amazing when you
combine it with Bukhor and 3ood.

All Natural in Bait AlSaboun

I love natural products. I usually get my soaps from Tunis or Morocco and once my aunt got me some soaps from Tureky which were amazing!!! Well I ran out of them and needed some soaps ASAP! A while back I read on The Boudoir a post about some scrubs she got from Biat AlSaboun click here to read her post. I've been to Bait AlSaboun a couple of times with a friend of mine, but I didn't pay much attention at that time. I went again few days back to check them out and the sales lady was kind enough to explain about their natural products.

This is the Lemon Ginger scrub.
Apparently it energies the body and
helps with weightloss.
The scent was amazing, and the olive oil in the scrub
did a great job by moisturizing my skin.

I also got this Alum Royal Formula, smiliar to Moroccan bath soap. It is suppose to unify your body's color and tightens the skin.
The sales lady said to use it twice a week,
I use it with every shower I take every day ;p

Ladies...I'm not sure if it works but I'm planning to buy it very soon and try it out, and there is an oil to rub your problem areas with.
I'll update you when I give it a try :)

More soaps of every kind.

Scented soaps.
I got the Oud soap but I haven't tried it yet.

Loofa Soaps. These smells delicious and you don't
need a loofa to to wash your body with it :)

I also got a chamomile body cream,
which is soothing and relaxing
and smells amazing.

You find Bait AlSaboun at the Avenues (phase 2) and Soug Sharg.

Chopped for a Cause

Yesterday while doing my hair at Toni & Guy, a brave girl came to chop off her gorgeous waist length hair wanting a new hair style and donating her long tresses for a cause. Honestly it broke my heart, but I applaud her bravery and generosity. Brovo!

Finally Nail It!

I call my cousin Shosho to chat with her, after saying our "Hi's", she suddenly asked me if I had anything to do tomorrow. I said, "No."
"I'm going to go do my nails. Do you want me to book you an appointment?" She asks.
"Ok. Which place are you going to?"
"Nail It." She replies.
I've been wanting to try 'Nail It' forever! And it is only few minutes away from my office, but I don't know why I haven't gone there yet. Thanks to Shosho she booked me an appointment and I met her there the next day.

I love this chair!

The place was nice, very organized and clean. I love the white, black and blue with a hint of silver décor. I loved the shelves with a large and up to date fashionable collection of nail polish colors. I loved the flat screen in the middle between the two seating areas. But my favorite…was their comfy chairs! As soon as I sat, and sunk into the chair I knew I didn't want to move at all! ;p

Next time I want to do some nail art.

The ladies suggested I try their Organic Treatment, for a much needed Mani & Pedi. The ladies, Janet (the tall skinny one) and Jennifer took over. They were sweet and kind and constantly asked me if I was feeling comfortable. The treatment they gave me exceeded my expectations. It soothed and relaxed me. I am hooked and I'm certainly going back very soon, and this time I want to try the Almond Treatment.

Oh yes! and I did catch up with my cousin Shosho
(garagna garga!).
It was a wonderful day!

Weekend

I should call this post Fashion Avenue, like the show on Style Channel, where the lady in the show travels to places around Europe and looks for bargain designer
pieces on a budget for parties and events,
and snacks and eats at famouse cafe's and restaurants.

I wasn't planning on shopping that day. The plan was breakfast and take the boys to play while I cozied up with a book. Then my sister decided to join us, and of course my sister wants to go check out few places after breakfast and I joined her.

I loved their hot chocolate. Planning to go again for
breakfast sometime this week just to order the hot chocolate.

We had a very yummy breakfast at Paul. I ordered the scrambled eggs with a hot chocolate, which is very good, and I stole a small piece from Fahad's croissant.

First we stopped at Virgins. Fahad wanted to buy some books. I found this book called Tall Carmel Macchiato by Kuwaiti author  Yousef AlBader. It is a very amusing book, basically talking about his discovery to certain words and phrases in the English language and their meaning. It is my first Arabic book in a very long time and surprisingly a very light and entertaining read.
Dropping Fahad and Abdulaziz at Game Whizz, my sister,
Ahmed (who didn't want to play) and I headed to The One.

She got these for our parents room,
to hang it on the side of their room as decore.

We've been going back and forth to check out this Table set.
Finally we decided to get the whole set for the fromal dining room.

 The design is extravagantly beautiful!

Ahmed fell in love with this ballon table.
He wanted to buy it with his KD0.250 which
he carried in his pocket.

We fell in love with this console and mirror.
We sat for almost 20min.looking at is
and trying to decide where it would go best in the house?
As charming as it is, we couldn't find a place for it in the house.

After spending almost an hour at The One, we headed to Vavoom. I was out of moisturizer. I use Shiseido and the lady at the counter was kind enough to add some samples of the same kind of moisturizers I use. I keep them in my handbag  or save them for short trips. My sister convinced me to buy few eye liners from Makeup Forever. They had amazing colors, but I stuck to the basic charcoal, brown and dark green. My sister got the same as the ones I got, but also added gold, purple, light green and blue. We also got a beach bag each as gifts from Makeup Forever :)

Aldo were having a sale. These cute slippers caught my attention and the faux snake skin multi colored clutch is chic! I also loved this long necklace. Did you notice how they all match together?
It was a long lovely day.

Lush!

I love Lush! Whenever I'm traveling and I spot one of their stores I have to stop and load with fabulous products. I love their natural masks, the Oatfix and Ayesha. We do have a store in Kuwait, unfortunately these masks are not available. I stopped by their store in Salmiya Plaza. The scent of the natural soaps and products were so delicious! Once I was there I didn't want to leave.

I picked up these two soaps. The Sandstone and Sexy Peel.
My skin is looking so dull after the tan I picked
during my last trip few weeks ago and it was peeling.

Right now I'm using the Sandstone soap. It smells nice, and the sand grains peeled off the dead skin leaving it smooth.

I still haven't used the Sexy Peel yet,
although its scent is
amazing!

Play With My Hair

I was getting bored with my hair color. I went to this lady who I've see coloring hair for a while when I went to my usual hairdresser and asked her if she can give me this drak caramelish brown hair color. I even showed her pictures of what I had in mind and emphasized that I do not like red! Well it is clear I ended up with a redish brown hair. Hated it!! Not only that, whatever color products she used on me were too harsh for my sensitive scalp. It isn't the first time I use color. I usually use the ones bought at the supermarket and have the girls at the Salon apply it to my roots. Why the heck did I go to this woman and turned my dark brown hair into red I do not know! Anyway, I gave my hair a rest because the chemicals in the color was too harsh and my scalp got irritated and had to go to the doc. The color was fading and becoming sickening. I can't look at myself in the mirror, and it made my skin look dull, to make matters worse I went and bought a darker shade of color from the supermarket. My hair had two shades of color d by then, dark brown and redish brown. I've read so much reviews about Toni & Guy, and heard my sister and cousins talking about it. So I decided to give them a try. Ansam recommended Emma for color and Allison for blow dry and the next day I went to see her. I told Emma what I wanted and she took a small sample from my hair just to test it and see if I'll get the shade I wanted and took an early appointment for the next day. Of course Emma had to strip the redish color, and then reapply a new color. The products were amazing, I didn't feel the slightest itch or burn on my scalp. The result was a gorgeous cool brownish caramel and no hint of red! I did a hair treatment which I really love, leaving my hair supple and smooth. She gave me a shampoo and conditioner. Honestly I was skeptical about it, fearing it would irritate my scalp, but it is an amazing shampoo giving me the same result as if I treated my hair and did it at the salon, and it smells fresh! But hey! Do you think I've learn my lesson? Noooo…. So we have a family event and needed to do my hair and makeup. A friend of mine recommends a place where they specialize in these stuff. I take an appointment and tell them what I wanted. When I reached there, my hair was clean and washed, but the stylist insisted I should wash it again. While washing my hair I felt a slight burn to my scalp but didn't give it a thought. She blow dried my hair and used those old fashioned irons on a small fire stove. I asked why she is using it, they were too hot for the hair. She said they give a better results than the electric ones. I didn't argue. My hair and make turned out to be great. But the next morning was a nightmare! I wake up the next morning. My scalp was burning me! I knew there was something wrong. I got dressed and headed to my doc. It was really early, she barely had her coffee. I told her about everything and it seemed the shampoo they used on me at that salon caused an allergic reaction. She gave me some meds and shampoo to use for a week. When I got back home I washed my hair and noticed that not only this stylist used a shampoo which caused an allergic reaction but also stripped my hair color! It looked orange! My cool caramel brown is gone! Oh not only that. The lower part of my hair close to the nape of my neck was all burned from the primitive way she used the irons. Yes! Burned! I had to snip them off. I was so pissed. I called them and told them what had happened and that they should check the expiration of their shampoos! Or use better quality. Anyway I gave my scalp a couple more weeks until I felt it much much better and went back to Toni & Guy. I didn't realize how awful my hair was until I retouched the roots and colored it all over again the same shade I had the first time. After that, I did the orange blossom treatment which I adore. I love the scent of my hair after the treatment. Allison who trimmed and blow dried my hair gave me a cream to protect my strands from blow drying which I love and it smelled like the pink Agent Provocateur perfume. Four weeks now my hair still feels great and looks great. Lesson learned, stick to the people I know I can trust with their professionalism and take my shampoo and hair cream with me if I went to a different place. I just can't stop playing with my hair! ;p

Winter Scents

Winter is here and time to put back my light perfumes
and use scents a bit on the heavey and strong side.
I love cambody (I hope I'm spelling it right) in perfumes.
I use them a lot in winter.
Amouge which I got from Oman! Very strong and fawa7a.
I got the silver one too. Which is good too.
While at Mangaf, I discovered AlKhalifa for Arabian Perfumes
I wasn't intending to buy anything but when I got to this
Cambody mix! I couldn't help but to get some for me and my sisters.
Just amazing! Spray it on your clothes or shawls,
and then add combody bokhour. Heaven!
In the picture there is AlKhalifa Perfume, cambody bokhour,
and combody ma3mool.
I am so in love with this AlKhalifa combody Arabian
perfume, it is so strong. Not for those who don't like strong perfumes ;)

Elemis Special Value

Early this week, I went to Spa Time for some relaxation therapy. I was so worn out, I dozed off in the middle of the massage session, and soon enough I was lightly shaken awake by the masseuse. I couldn't believe the time passed so quickly. The therapist commented that I had dark circles under my eyes and looked very much fatigued.
It was true, I didn't like what I saw in the mirror that morning. I looked pale and had those dark circles under my eyes and felt ten years older.
She suggested an eye cream which could help with the dark circles. I've been using a certain brand for a long time and was comfortable with it and skeptical of using something different. However I needed to buy new creams because the ones I had were almost finished.
Anyway she brought me this small tube of eye cream. The price was KD36 "gulp!" Since I was too tired and I couldn't think rationally, I agreed to buy it. At the counter the receptionist suggested that instead of taking one single cream in this price I can get the special offer for KD49, which consisted of the Pro- Collagen eye cream, Pro Radiance cream cleaner and Soothing Apricot Toner.
I've been using them for a almost a week, I could see a difference under my eyes. When I apply the cream I feel a surge of coolness on my skin with the dark circles slowly fading, my skin is smoother, and the toner is very cool and refreshing on the skin. I'm happy I made the choice to buy it even when I wasn't thinking straight ;p

Bath & Body Works

Last Thursday I went out for a relaxed lunch at Nino Avenues with my cousin and her friend. The weather was so cool and amazing we sat there until dark and temporarily forgetting about my little men ;p It is part of my plan to de-stress. Of course our conversation tends to be about diet, kids and beauty, and it enthused towards the Bath & Body Works which has recently opened in Kuwait. I know my sisters use the products bringing them from the States, but I never did. I love Victoria Secrets Amber Romance body splash and lotion which I've been using forever. My cousin and her friend said the Bath & Body Works was the best they've used, and the scents of the lotions is so amazing. "We'll check it out after lunch." So I headed there and tried most of them. I like clean fresh scents. The one which appealed to me the most was 'Sea Island Cotton'. I got the shower gel, the body lotion and body splash. It is so fresh and the kind of scent you don't smell on yourself but others do. I just love it. Clean and Fresh! ;)

Let's Talk Beauty

I first read about these supplements on Ansam 518 blog. I passed
by Boots and got them for KD22.
What I liked about them was, I take them before bed.
Unlike HiarVit, which I take during the day and plays havoc
with my appetite!!! and bye bye diet!
After ten days I really noticed the difference. My hair stopped falling
as it used to. My nails, although I had no problem with my nails, are strong
and my skin is more radiant!
Highly Recommended!
So While I picked Purelogicol, I saw this Yogurt face mask.
I usually stick to the brand I use for face creams soaps and masks.
I was out of moisturizing mask and wasn't in the mood to swing by Rawdha co-op
so I picked this one. It was inexpensive. Can't remember the price, but compared
to what I usually pay for my masks, it was cheap.
I tried the mask on my face and didn't want to remove it! I have dry skin and
this mask was so rich compared to what I use. Highly Recommended!
A tip to facial masks? Keep them cool in the fridge ;)

Makeover

I picked up this copy of Instyle on impulse because I knew
it was time for a makeover ;p
See how good Jennifer Hudson looks?
It's going to be almost one year since I started my diet, and I'm nowhere near my goal, or any goals I have set for myself. I did drop around 20Kgs but I've gained back 4kgs from the ones I lost. Now the crazy food fest month is over I have to get back on track. I don't feel too happy or comfortable with myself right now. I have to work out twice as hard, after a month of on and off exercising, sitting in front of the TV, the computer and not moving much. I feel sluggish and lazy. My whole body aches and feels stiff when I move around. And this month, I have a crazy schedule of work, taking care of myself and of course not to forget the boys are back to school!!!!

I want a 3-5 days detox diet...any ideas?

It is time for change. Time for a makeover ;) So my friends, I'm going to disappear from society for a couple of months (no..no..I'll still be blogging) and if you happen to bump into me by accident, please don't be alarmed ;p If I look a mess, don't mind me. Alkisha is only temporary, because I'm growing my hair. If you don't want to say "Hi" I'll understand. There will be lots of therapies I'm going to go through, skin, hair and body. Now to jump start my diet I need a good detox diet. My nephew sent me one, but it takes two weeks to detox. I need a three to five days. Any ideas? I also need to pay my nutritionist a visit, but after shedding the 4Kgs I gained ;p

I know I sound like an old broken record ;pp I will not post about my failures in my attempt to lose weight but of the progress I'd be making inshallah ;) Change is good, it boosts ones confidence.

Eid Scents...

Few months back I've posted about a new scent I'm addicted to, White Patchouli by Tom Ford. Still love it till this day. I passed AlJazira Perfumes and I found they are selling Tom Ford's perfumes. I bought me a new one and for my boys Grey Vetiver, which is an amazing amazing! perfume. Even the ladies can wear it, because it has this Arabic perfume scent to it.

This is the discription of the scent I got on the net : Tom Ford’s newest fragrance, Grey Vetiver was created for the man who is debonair, charismatic, and provocative. It is elegant, with a refined heart of natural vetiver, superbly blended with sun-drenched citrus, refined spices and prized woods.Notes of sage, warm wood, orange flower, grapefruit, orris, nutmeg, vetiver, amberwood, and oak moss comprise this fragrance.

Girl Talk

Warning! This is pure Girl Talk not that interesting for the guys ;)
Eid is getting close. Did you get your outfit? I didn't. I do have a couple of new outfits which I tried on yesterday, they were a bit tight. I get naturally bloated in Ramadan, as a doctor told me few years ago, it is a natural defense mechanism my body goes into when I'm fasting. Anywy I might still go and see if I can find something else which I'll feel more comfortable wearing, however I can't find a right time to go. Something always comes up whenever I want to go shopping, and I hate going out in the evenings, the crowd just puts me in a bad mood and no way do I shop when I'm in a bad mood. What's your ritual in preparing For Eid. Are you as crazy as I am? God! When it comes to special events, such as weddings, receptions and Eid, it takes me from 1 month to 3 days (at least) to prepare. I know it sounds crazy. Mashallah I know people yetajahzoon 7azat al 7aza w ma 3endhom mushkila…well not I. I need minimum three days, that is, if I already have an outfit and matching accessories to go with it. If not, just forget it. Come on ladies... you know what I mean, You'd rather die then being caught wearing an outfit more than twice for the same people. There are times, such as family weddings and events, when I find about them at the last minute, I just don't go. Few months back a family member got engaged and I've been asking when is the big day just to have an idea on when to prepare? It was at the beginning of my diet and I'm losing a lot of weight at the time, I wasn't ready to throw money on an outfit which will be big on me or something I wasn't convinced with just because I didn't have any idea when the wedding was and needed to have something ready in my closet. Anyway I find out a day before the event and not one but two parties! Which means I need not one but two dresses! Of course I was thrown in a panic because it was a close family member. Yes, a close member and I find out a day before the event. What kind of a wedding gets prepared in one day?(because the lame excuse I got was the grooms mother hasn't set a day for the wedding) Why did they wait until the last minute to tell me? Better use the KD1000 + I'll be throwing on dresses I won't like, on a short trip to Dubai or Bahrain. I did! On that same day I booked my ticket to Dubai and spent the best three days shopping, going to movies and trying new restaurants. I've side tracked from the main topic! Back to the rituals. What do you do? Salons, Nail spas, hair treatment, facials, body treatment and spas, crazy fad diets? For the past two weeks I've been treating my hair, because of hair loss, and the treatment is making my hair look a bit dull. Next week will be facial and a long appointment at the Spa and Hairdresser. Yes… I'm crazy. Women are crazy when it comes to their appearances. At least the ones I know are. How crazy are you?

Makeup Studio

Since I'm attending my first wedding party in three years!!! 7adi em'3abra! I decided to give the Ladies, Zainab Al Mehanna & Bibi Marafie, from Makeup Studio a try. They were our neighbors at P2BK, very sweet and welcoming. I took my appointment, I think, on the last day of the event. They sent me a reminder a day before the appointed day, which was very kind of them to confirm with me. After doing my hair, which I wasn't too happy about, I headed to their studio which is situated in their home basement, a very spacious room still being set, in metalic pink and silver wallpaper. The makeup chairs were up, a table filled with makeup boxes was set in the middle. I really wanted to go through them, bas mabi a36eehom en6ba3 enni mashfoo7 ;p Zainab was the one my appointment with. She was applying for a customer when I arrived, I was early. We reminisced about the expo and how positive the event was for our businesses. After putting me at my ease she asked me what kind of style I had in mind and what was the colors of my dress, before she set to work her magic on my face ;p I went for smoky eyes, since the eyes is the focal point on the face. It's been a while since I put that much make up! So I was a bit taken aback when I took my first look. But after going back home, dressing up and wearing my bling blings I looked GOOD! Well except for the hair which, as the evening wore off, turned into a spaghetti mess :s So the ladies at Makeup studio are a must try! If you are interested, ladies, send me a private massage and I'll email you their contacts.

My Summer Scent

My darling father in law brought me from his last trip this Tom Ford White Patchouli perfume as a gift. I guess it has been out for a while, and I'm not sure if it is available here or not because I haven't really looked for it. Tom Ford's Black Orchid is one of my favorite perfumes which I like to put on for evenings out and it is a heavy scent. However this one is surprisingly light.
I am one of the few people, I think, who doesn't like Patchouli, because I once smelled it on a woman who really stank! She was covering her stinking odor with the heavy Patchouli scent, which from that day when I ever smelled Patchouli I gag!
The Patchouli is very there in this perfume but there is also a number combination of scents which will dazzle your senses. It is definitely going to be my summer scent ;)
Here is a description of White Patchouli I found on one of the sites:
Introducing a scent that perfectly captures the myth of a generation, surrounded by sleek wood notes and white flowers, this clean, penetrating fragrance melds Bohemian influences with today's structured sophistication.Opens energetically sparkling notes of bergamot blended with delicate white peony and spicy coriander accents make an instant play for attention. The alluring and modern heart unfolds in sequence: rich rose absolute, carnal night blooming jasmine, and the stimulating ambrette seed.Precious patchouli orpur infuses the finish with exotic depth. Its stimulating sensual pull is enriched by a medley of blonde woods and the soft eastern aroma of incense.
