Kony 2012

This has gone on far too long!
Where are the Super Powers in this World??
Why haven't they put a stop to Kony all those years???
28 years!!!
Or isn't there any oil in Uganda to draw the Super Powers
 attention to this place???
Children! Children are dying!
They are abducted from their homes, used as sex slaves
and soldiers in Kony's army!
Till when?

I watched it twice.
First in mute because the kids were close by
and honestly I didn't want to draw their attention to it.
Half way through I'm chocking!!!
Just by reading the haunted and terrified look on Jacabos face!
After sending them to their room, I turned on again
and watched the whole video, and I can't stop crying.
I hope 2012 is the end of Kony, and may he rot in hell!

Help Save Abdulkareem's Leg

Last Monday when the bloggers went to NBK's Cancer hospital for the Kids Cancer Party, there was a little brave and smiling boy called AbdulKareem. He has cancer in his leg that is spreading to his body and his only chance of survival is to have his leg cut off or has a knee replacement surgery.
Knee replacement surgery is not available in Kuwait but its available in Jordan and costs 30,000 KD. The boy is not Kuwaiti and his family doesn't have that money. He has no time as his leg cutting operation is scheduled for next week.

Very Tragic!

This is tragic! appalling and heart breaking!
Just imagine it is your kid sitting under that tree :(
What do to???

I recieved these pictures from Ansam518 Read about it here,
and something should be done about it.

He is sitting under the blazing heat selling water melons.
Where are his parents? Where are the authorities?!!
Children are being taken advantage of and abused on
daily basis in this country and nothing is being done about it!!!

Its Time to Pack a Bag!

“pack a bag” campaign is a campaign with no rules, its not based on an organization nor a group, you don’t have to stick with a certain organization, all you have to do is pack an old bag that you don’t need anymore and pack it with clothes, shoes, accessories, toys and whatever you think is suitable for donating and send it to whoever you think needs it the most. your maid, tea boy, cleaning lady at work, poor people around you like a neighbour maybe, you can send them to africa or refugee camps.

it doesn’t matter who you are, where you are, which country your from, there’s no rules or restrictions to this campaign, so whoever you think needs it the most, just donate it.
this campaign starts from kuwait and hopefully will reach the rest of the world, so im calling all bloggers, readers and “charity enthusiasts” to help me spread the word
if you are in kuwait i can provide you with families in need that you can easily reach, just make sure you contact me on my email

ps: please make sure that the clothes and everything else you donate are clean and well folded, preferably not torn.

Gluten Free Campaign in Kuwait

I received this email from our bloggerette sister Danderma to spread a gluten free awareness. I think she is right. Although I don't follow a strict Gluten Free diet, but I do suffer from it and I try to make subsitutions to certain foods from time to time.
Please read her message it is important! and I hope restaurant owners will try to provide a gluten free menu :)

"I am writing to you on behalf on the Gluten Intolerant Diners in Kuwait. You would be surprised at the number of people in Kuwait who cannot consume any thing with gluten (the wheat protein found in anything derived from wheat, barely, rye, and other wheat related items).
I am writing to you because I have once suffered from a period of gluten free diet and I believe the restaurants of Kuwait have extended beyond being a mere culinary outlet as they are considered an important social establishments that our lives revolve around. Therefore no one can really refrain from visiting restaurants in Kuwait. In short, trying to accommodate gluten intolerant diners by offering or highlighting gluten-free items in the menu would be a civilized social initiative on your parts that is highly, if not vitally, appreciated.

What can be done? Anything! From printing out a plain A4 paper with the gluten-free items of your menu and keeping it at the bottom of the menu rack to adding the option of gluten free rice based pasta to the diners and informing your waiters regarding the matter. The pasta is available in many outlets in Kuwait and its dry and taste exactly the same as normal pasta. Also, flour less desserts on the menu or made with semolina or other types of flour are an excellent gluten free yet delicious options.
If nothing can be done on your part, at least allowing gluten intolerant diners to bring their own bread (toast or buns) along when they dine in and informing your waiters of that option would be the least they aim for.

Carluccio's Kuwait offers a gluten-free menu complete with gluten free pasta. Tatami Kuwait and Sugar & Spice bakery also are very accommodating and the latter even would bake cakes and fatayer if gluten free flour was provided for the bakery. In Dubai you could walk into the lime tree cafe and order a full English breakfast complete with gluten free toast and enjoy it thoroughly.

Thank you so much for your time and for reading this email. If you are willing to offer anything to gluten intolerant diners, please inform me so I could inform them with a post on my blog.

Thanks & Regards,
Danderma

I love AlRaha Gluten Free baked goods.
I order their breadds all the time.

Inshallah I will share some of my Gluten Free
recipes with all of you! And wish you all
the best of health and happiness.

Road Rage - Must Read!!!

Our car. It makes wonder how fast the other guy was driving.
My kids were sitting at the back. My Kids were sitting at the back!!!
It was a simple Friday afternoon. Fahad was ill, so we didn't go out and I sent the kids off to the club. Nothing interesting just a lazy day of food, and movies and I at the kitchen trying some ice cream mixes. Then I get a call from the driver who was supposed to be on the way to pick up the boys. He tells me he is in an accident. Of course my first concern was my boys. He assured me they were all ok. In matter of crisis I get very calm until I asses the whole situation. It was a wonder I managed to change very quickly, leaving a frantic Fahad behind and drove to where the accident was. Half way through the driver calls me again and tells me they were all going to AlDe3ia Station. The accident happened at the cross road from the Gulf Road which takes you directly to the Second Ring Road. To what the driver explained to me he was standing in the middle lane and signaling left to turn under the bridge which takes him to Fahad Bin Abdulaziz road. The other driver was coming from the left lane and was speeding to go straight into the Second Ring Road (aka. The Love Road), when it is common knowledge that driving on the left lane means you're turning left. No. Al7abeeb was speeding and collided with our car. Now, I arrive at AlDi3ya Station, and the first thing I notice is the dent in the car, and I was thinking, how fast that other guy was driving??? It is at a traffic light for God's Sake! How fast was he driving to make this kind of damage to the car which had my kids in it!!! I quickly looked for my kids. They were so relieved to see me. When Abdulaziz got out of the car he threw himself at me and started crying, "I was very scared mama." He said to me. "Are you hurt?" "I just hit my head on the window." I checked his head but couldn't see clearly in the dark. I check out Ahmed who still doesn't understand the gravity of the situation. And the nanny who was looking very pale. They were shaken but all fine. "Madame that boy was driving very fast." She tells me. I turn to look at the boy she pointed at. He was a boy! Between 19-21 years of age, from the looks of him, and his car was Smokey silver Chevrolet truck! "He was speeding. We were turning left and he wanted to go straight, and hit the car." That was John our cook. He and his family have been in the employment of my husbands family for the past 30 years. I ask him if it wasn't Raju's fault, and he assures me it wasn't Raju's mistake. Raju already had the left signal on, and was ahead of the other car before they were hit, and I believe him. Raju was nowhere to be found. He went to make copies of the license and car registration. I give a call to Fahad and assure him the kids and the staff were all fine and that I'll be heading back home soon. I still couldn't keep my eyes off the dent in the car, and the worst case scenarios started playing in my head, and my worst nightmare came popping as clear as the day I've witnessed it. Years ago, before I got married and had kids of my own. I witnessed a traffic accident and one of the cars had kids in it, the driver was disoriented, the nanny was screaming, and I remember clearly one of the kids was bleeding from his head. Men from other cars rushed to them and I remember the one was carrying the child who was bleeding and rushing him to his car and off to the hospital. The bleeding boy, not more than 6 years old, was crying for his mommy, the other kid even smaller than his brother was crying hysterically. Then all semblance of calm evaporated. This could have happened to my kids. My kid could be bleeding when I'm far away from him. Al7amedallah I believe in "Gatha2 w Qadar", but I will never accept that my child gets hurt because of a road rage king of the road no sense of responsibility 19-21 something years of age SOB!!! It is a wonder I didn't hit him and buried him where he was standing inside the police station. No. I will not accept it. When I asked him if he cared. He said the investigator will determine who is right or wrong. I told him I didn't care who is right or wrong. It was obvious he was wrong, I want to know if he cared there were children in the car! There was a woman, the nanny, who is also a mother, and the driver, a man, a father with his own children. There was John, who isn't only a cook, but practically a member of the family! Did he even think about the lives in the car when he hit it? Did he check on the kids inside the car after he collided into it? From the look on his face, and when he turned and walked away it was obvious, he didn't care. I was dragged out of the station. The officers, although neutral, but understood the rage I was in. I left then. My dear brother came to follow the investigation after I left, which is still going on because that other driver refuses to be wrong. The investigator, whoever he is, was in a hurry to leave, so he gave us another appointment for this week. To Fahad and I, it isn't a matter of who is right or wrong. Or who is going to fix and pay for the car. Al7amedallah, e7na ahal 5air. It was and is a matter of principle! This guy was speeding. Driving as if "Alshare3 Share3 abou!". Not caring about the lives around him and no sense of responsibility. Not caring there are children in the car he collided with. Not caring that he endangered the lives of the children and the people in the car. And We do not accept it. WE DO NOT ACCEPT IT! Something should be done about those speed crazed drivers. A law should be made just for them, to be conscious of those around them on the road. They have to be held accountable as long as they are speeding! I am so incensed, so infuriated I was ready to bury him where he was standing. I want to teach him and others like him a lesson. Will we make it easy for him? No! I made Fahad swear on my life and those of our children to make an example out of him. I am still angry and infuriated. Alf Al7amedallah 3ala salamat 3yali w 3ala salamat alnas elli fee amanatna. W ma agool ela 7asbyallah wa ne3ma alwakeel.

It Beats the Purpose! - TSC

About a month ago or so… TSC launched their Green bags. I was delighted and picked some for my shopping and been using them every since even when I go to the Co-op, doing my best to decrease the use of plastic bags. Today I stopped at Sultan and had my bag with me. I also had the boyos who were driving me crazy to distraction. While paying I put my Green bag supposedly the staff there should know that they should put my groceries in it. I turn around finding my green bag at the side and the bag boy (is that what they call them?) puts my groceries in plastic bags!!! That is the second time it happens to me at TSC. Then I ask the bag boy to remove the groceries from the plastic bags and put them back in the green bag, at the same time I was trying to hold Ahmed who wanted to bolt somewhere. When I turned back instead of emptying the plastic bags he put the bags in my green bag. I was beyond pissed now. Why is Sultan selling Green bags if their staff don't understand the purpose of it??? And the bag boy was looking at me "Yalla '7al9een bas!". I was going to go complete "Dathra Madness" on him… but had enough on my plate with the boys. I didn't want to create much drama. I took my bag and left.

A Walk To Remember for Autism

The walk aims to spread the awarness of Autism.
Registration is at Marina Mall, near Virgins store, from 5.30pm - 9.30pm
until the 28th Feb.
Hurry and participate!
Fahad cracked up laughing at me this morning when I told him I wanted to participate
in a walkathon. I don't blame him. Every year I tell him I'm going to participate in some kind of race and I never do. I went anyway and signed up my name!
First it is for a good cause, spreading Autism awareness.
Second, it's a good incentive to stick to my exercising.
Third, it will be a 2010 achievement I'd be proud of.
As I said, 2010 will be a different year for me ;)
So make it different for you too, make a difference and participate :)
