A Game of Thrones

I love fantasy and the paranormal. I've Been reading and watching fantasy since I was a kid. Even when I got married I made Fahad cross over and interested in this genre, not as enthusiastically as I am, but nevertheless he enjoys it too. I remember a couple of summers ago I'd send the kids away to my parents home so I can watch my Lords Of The Ring uninterrupted! Main point is, HBO has a new show called "A Game of Thrones" based on the book series by George R R Martin. The novels have everything in it, from a lot of action, intrigue, violence, magic and love. So the show promises to be very good, if they stick to the plot! unlike True Blood who got everything mixed up! very annoying! The show will begin on OSN on 20th of April. Inshallah etha allah a7yana, I can't wait to see the characters I formed in my head while reading the serise come to life on the silver screen. Here is the trailer.

Tidbits Here & There

Recap on 2011's resolution.

We started our fourth month of this year and so far I haven't committed to any of my resolutions! I am disappointed with myself. Last year I had more resolutions and I committed to them, and it felt so good to achieve some of them.

This is what I had for this year,

1-Lose weight. (I haven't been committed to my weight loss regime. I'm too afraid to go to my nutritionist. I know she will yell and put me on a nasty strict diet. So I have to go back to my old diets and try to stick to them this year. I even have to put my #1 saboteur, Fahad, on a diet. )

2- Saving money. Yes, I'm still spending, but not as much as I used to. I've read that if I put a weekly budget , let's say, on grocery shopping I'd be saving at least 25% from what I usually spend.

3- Staying away from magazines and little note books. God! I was in this stationary shop in Rome and they had the most beautiful collection of note books small, big, paper and leather covers in every color. But I resisted. I think I entered that shop three times, because it was near our hotel, but stopped myself from buying anything. However, I've been going crazy over magazines. Last year it was one of the resolutions I've silently promised myself to stick to, and I did. This year I put it on paper and I'm out of control! So I'm going to use reverse psychology on myself: It is ok to indulge on magazines every now and then. Hmm let's see if this will work.

4-Finish what I've started. Hopefully I'd be done with one project this week, and I have three more. Two are easy and I'll finish in no time if I concentrate on them. The last will take time.

5- Do something different. So far I haven’t done anything different. I have to think of something, any suggestions?

Diet.

Last week I've started a cleansing diet. But everything went downhill on the fourth day when Fahad ordered Pizza and brought back with him the new Gelato summery flavors we were working on to try. Then next thing I know, I went on a rampage in our pantry. Even the kids treats didn't survive. This week, I'm starting all over again, but this time I'm making Fahad go through it with me. I challenged him that he doesn't have the resolve to go through the diet I'm going through. I know one thing. My husband is very stubborn, and will go through the diet without complaining. So we'll see how it will end up ;)

I dream of a clutter free dressing room

Cleaning up after the dust storm gave me the opportunity to de-clutter my dressing room. I always wanted to get rid of certain things but I keep on putting it off. Clearing my dressing room needs a lot of time and energy! Its taking almost a week to go through my stuff and I still haven't sorted my shoe closet. Yes, my dressing room is large, and what's driving Fahad crazy is I never have anything to wear! Another funny thing is when we went to our beach vacation last December, I was puzzled wondering where my trendy beach clothes went??? Now that I'm clearing my closets…they are here in front of me!!! Bummer!

Shout Out!

Congrats to my cousin Nofa for getting her MBA! You are a true inspiration to us lazy lot :***

A New Member In The Family

Ahmed...knowing his way around the shop.
One of my friends sent me a message asking me if I wanted a hamster for the boys. I agreed. Few days later after picking the cage, I was surprised to find out there were three hamsters. I was too embarrassed to tell my friend, so I took them anyway, though the cage wasn't big for three hamsters and it was too much responsibility.
Fahad was against it when he found out what I brought home. He even scolded me. "Isn't it enough we have two puppies!" (He means by the boys)
"Come on, one of my fondest memories as a child is having pets. You know that 'cause I always tell you about our Sunday trips to the market and stopping at the pet shops." I told him.
"They stink!" He knows how I hate bad smells. But I didn't mind the smell.
Yes the cage needs cleaning up, and they need wood chips and healthy food.
The next morning I took my little Prince Ahmed and went to Pet Zone. Ahmed decided the hamsters are his and not his brother's and named the three of them "Fluffy".
It was a first for me, but my sister always go there for her pets and their food, and apparently she had taken the boys with her few times, because Ahmed knew his way around.
Dr. Mohammed Rouab is a veterinarian and manager at the shop. He is so nice and friendly. He recognized me as Dana's sister right away (lucky me if I looked half as good as my sis.) He checked out the hamsters they were all in good health. He was also kind enough to take two of them, and I kept one. He gave me advice on what to do and how many and how to clean the cage. He showed me around the shop and introduced me to the sweetest puppies, birds and fish. If only I had enough space in my home I'd have adopted a puppy or two.
Later that evening, the boys were still at the their grandparents house, I was working and Fahad was watching TV.
"Where is the hamster?" he asks.
"In the boys room." "She might be lonely by herself, bring here with us, with a little noise around her she wouldn't feel left out."
I started laughing. Fahad has warmed up to our new pet. Fulffy is officially a member of our family! He played with her until the boys came back home.
The two other Fluffys we gave up. I loved the display cage at
the shop. I might do something similar when I finish my terrace and add more hamsters.
I loved the fish tanks display and the many fish collections
they have.
They had tanks filled with colorful corals.
Everything your pet desires. The cutest puppy ever!
And here is another darling!

Wisdom Of the Week

The roller coaster is my life: life is fast, dizzying game;
life is a parachute jump; it's taking chances,
falling over and getting up again; it's mountaineering;
it's wanting to get to the very top of yourself
and to feel angry and dissatisfied when you don't manage it.
Paulo Coelho
I printed this quote on a large paper, framed it
and placed it in the boys room.

Art - Anna May Wong

Largely considered the first Chinese-American movie star, Anna May Wong began her career in silent films and is probably best known for playing beside Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express in 1932. Though her career was quite illustrious, it was riddled with discrimination — Wong famously turned down the part of a Chinese villain in The Good Earth after being passed over for the starring role of the Chinese heroine that, ultimately, went to German-born Luise Rainer — as well as frustration over being pigeonholed into stereotypical “dragon lady” characters. Korean filmmaker Yunah Hong just completed a documentary exploring the life and career of Wong, titled Anna May Wong: In Her Own Words, which was eight years in the making.
