TV Shows

So… with a none existant social life, I've been catching up on some TV shows on OSN, such as … GBC a very hilarious show. I've read that Christians in the States were offended by the show.  The show could be about Muslims, Jews or even Hindus. In the end they are human and not perfect, and bound to be nasty, gossipy and greedy. It is reality and humanity.
I love watching it because it is so funny! I can really imagine Haya Sh3abi with her new look as Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chonewoth), if they make the series in Arabic. Too bad the show has been cancelled.

Scandal is just breathtaking!!! The drama and the pace of the story kept me on edge wanting more of the series. It is an amazing show!
The characters are diverse and had so much back story to them which still haven't been told in this season.
I still haven't read any of the reviews regarding the show and I'm not sure if it has been picked up or cancelled.
I hope there will be more to it.

I missed on season one. I haven't seen what happened but I'm planning to download it soon.
It is such a classic master piece, not to be missed!!! There is just too much to the story I can't sum it up in one paragraph. However I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

Game Of Thrones

So who is following Game of Thrones S2?
The second season covers almost most of the key events
of the second book of George R.R. Martins, Clash of Kings.
While reading the book a while back I was wondering how they will compress all these characters and events which are in the book in a 10 episode season?
As it happens, alot of characters are missing, maybe they will be introduced later in Season 3, who knows, and some scenes has been changed. Tyrion Lannister is my favorite character.
So far, Season 1 has stayed true to the first book and my favorite.
It doesn't mean I'm not liking season 2... I do feel disappointed when the episode reaches the end, and can't wait for next week to come.

The Mentalist

I've just finished watching The Mentalist S2...
Now I know why Ansam is so smitten with Patric Jane,
because now I am too... that smile...those lazy eyes...
that very canny mind!!! *sigh*
I love the series...can't wait to start with S3.

TV Shows

Now, after a long day... yep and nannyless... the only way I can relax is after tucking my boys in their beds, including their father, and sit with a tray of snacks and catch up on my favorite shows!
These are the following shows I'm currently watching and I still have more shows I haven't watched yet ;)

It is new and fresh. Although sometimes they are going round and round and much predictable mystery, but it is still early to judge. I'm half way through and hope it wont disappoint me.

I'm loving this show! Yes I love it and I hope it doesn't
drag on like "Lost".
I'm not into Turkish soaps, but this one "Hareem Sultan" on OSN Ya Hala has caught my eye with its promos and previews and I am hooked! The story takes place during the golden age of the Ottoman Empire under the reign of Sultan Sulaiman.
The story is about the conquest of Sultan Sulaiman whether on
the battle fields or in his harem.
I'm also in love with this show, although I missed few episods. I hope to catch them up later.

Ok... You want to upgrade your wardrobe? Then watch this show. Gok's takes on highstreet fashion and upgrades the clothes into coture level. He has inspired me to do something about the many gray and black cardies I own :) Inshallah I'll show you the end results after I'm done with them. The show is on BBC style.

Another show I'm enjoying is Terra Nova. It is a cute show.

I've posted about Supernatural previously.
I liked the show until the 4th season.
Now I feel they are running out of ideas
and going round and round...
I miss the ghost and monster hunting...now all they do is running after demons and too much drama for my taste.

A Game of Thrones

I love fantasy and the paranormal. I've Been reading and watching fantasy since I was a kid. Even when I got married I made Fahad cross over and interested in this genre, not as enthusiastically as I am, but nevertheless he enjoys it too. I remember a couple of summers ago I'd send the kids away to my parents home so I can watch my Lords Of The Ring uninterrupted! Main point is, HBO has a new show called "A Game of Thrones" based on the book series by George R R Martin. The novels have everything in it, from a lot of action, intrigue, violence, magic and love. So the show promises to be very good, if they stick to the plot! unlike True Blood who got everything mixed up! very annoying! The show will begin on OSN on 20th of April. Inshallah etha allah a7yana, I can't wait to see the characters I formed in my head while reading the serise come to life on the silver screen. Here is the trailer.

Fringe

New Show I'm watching and loving! I finished Season 1
and inshallah Season 2 is on the way.
I hope it will be as strong as the first season :)
Fringe is an American science fiction television series created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The series follows a Federal Bureau of Investigation "Fringe Division" team based in Boston, Massachusetts under the supervision of Homeland Security. The team uses unorthodox "fringe" science and FBI investigative techniques to investigate a series of unexplained, often ghastly occurrences, which are related to mysteries surrounding a parallel universe. The show has been described as a hybrid of The X-Files, Altered States, The Twilight Zone and Dark Angel.
Fringe follows the exploits of special agent Olivia Dunham, mad scientist Walter Bishop, and his son, jack-of-all-trades Peter Bishop, as they investigate aspects of fringe science ranging from transhumanist experiments gone wrong to the apocalyptic prospect of a technological singularity to the possible existence of parallel universes. Unlike his other series, Lost, J.J. Abrams promises the series' story arc will be easier to follow and more accessible for those who skip an occasional episode. In an interview first published in September 2008, Abrams said: "Lost has garnered a certain reputation for being a very complicated show and one that you have to watch every episode. Fringe is in many ways an experiment for us, which is, we believe it is possible to do a show that does have an overall story and end game, which Fringe absolutely does… We can do a show that has that, so that there's a direction the show is going and there's an ultimate story that's being told, but also a show that you don't have to watch episodes one, two and three to tune into episode four." Roberto Orci, a co-creator, commented that Fringe "took its inspiration from The X-Files", but will “differentiate through the characters," and be a whole new take on the genre

Gossip Girl

Yes I'm a late comer to the show and I'm smitten with Gossip Girl! I have become a hermit! I'd send my kids out and lock myself in my lair and watch it for hours on end. My favorite character is Chuck Bass. I just love him! My kind of guy! A snappy dresser, intelligent and full of character and very loyal to his friends and family. My least favorite is Nate. I've started on Season 3 this afternoon and already I don't like the first two episodes, I hope it will turn out to be as good as season 1 & 2. Oh! How could I be so airheaded and forget the fashion??? The Fashion! It is unbelievable! No wonder why most fashionistas are addicted to the show. And of course the Gossip!!! I'm not the type who likes to gossip… but who doesn't like to hear about a tidbit of scandal every now and then?? I have two friends who live for gossip and whenever I feel bored I call them… I don't have to talk. They do all the talking and I get to know what's going on in this country ;p quiet a refreshment to my dull life ;ppp By the way do we have a Kuwaiti Gossip Girl?

True Blood Season 3 (Spoilers)

Book 3 of the Sookie Stackhouse series Sookie Stackhouse is having man trouble. Her vampire boyfriend, Bill, has been distant and inattentive lately. Then he announces that he is going on a business trip, which clearly is more than it seems. After a werewolf tries to abduct Sookie at work, Bill's boss, Eric, tells her that Bill fell under the sway of his--Bill's, that is--ex, a sexy vamp named Lorena, and has been kidnapped. Eric wants Sookie's help in getting Bill back, and despite her hurt over Bill's betrayal, Sookie agrees to go to Jackson, Mississippi, to find her wayward lover. Eric has persuaded Alcide, a dashing werewolf, to get Sookie access to Josephine's, aka Club Dead, the local hangout of Jackson's supernatural element. In between dodging kidnappers, the advances of amorous Eric, and her growing feelings for Alcide, Sookie has to find out who kidnapped Bill and figure out a way to rescue him. With some droll touches--Elvis, now a vampire, is Sookie's faithful guard. I started on True Blood season 3 and had to stop for awhile, but then I finally had the time to catch up on the remaining episodes. A very colorful cast. Interesting subplots, but I hated the main plot of this season. They changed so much from the original story of the book that I actually felt disappointed they didn't stay true to the book like they did in season 1 & 2. Book 3 of the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlain Harris wasn't like that, and where is Bubba??? Bubba is Elvis turned into a vampire before he died. From what I remember of book 3, The King of Mississippi was helpful to Sookie and his partner Talbot didn't die at the end. I'm very confused. I want to reread the book just to be sure. Then they killed the were panther alpha (can't remember his name) he is alive in the series, and he has a huge crush on Sookie and will help her on several occaisions. Why did they kill him? Charlian Harris has described Sookie as a beauty and Tara a white woman. Ok…so I get Tara being changed into a black woman, and I don't mind her full of attitude character, although sometimes I want to bang her head with a sledgehammer, but Anna Paquin as Sookie!!! I just don't get it! Still after 3 seasons I wince when I see her, because Sookie in my head when I read the series is like the original Buffy or the second Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) or even Glee's Dianna Agron, yeah these what I consider blond beauties.

I just hope next Season would be better.

Kristy Swanson as Buffy... This is how I pictured Sookie in my mind

Sarah Michelle Gellar would have made a good Sookie too, or someone like her

The original Tara... but producers and directors
felt she didn't have enough attitude

Rutina Wesely, she is playing the part to perfection

What do you think? Who is better?

What I'm Watching?

Why do I like watching….
Bab Al7ara? A very fascinating drama, which is about courage, honor and love. I strongly believe that we should have something similar in Kuwaiti/Khaleeji series. Saher il Lail? It takes place during the "Age of Innocence". No computers and internet, no mobiles and BBs. Only love letters and Abdulhaleem Hafth ;) When was the last time you wrote a letter on paper? 3awza Atgawez? Hilarious! Haven't laughed as much as when I'm watching Hind Sabri's quirkiness. I've heard the series is based on a blog written by a young pharmacist. Does anyone have any idea about it? Kings (on OSN every Friday & Saturday)? Do you know the story of David and Goliath? Well this series is inspired by it which takes place in the present. A very intriguing story about Politics, conspiracies love and hope.

Ramadan TV

So What TV Shows are you watching?
For the past 5 years, Fahad and I are loyal followers
of Bab Al Hara.

This year we're also watching, 3awza Atgawez....Hilarious!!!

Don't miss it!

Kids always say the truth...
"Why is it always so depressing?" Abdulaziz complained the other
evening, being a romantic like his mama, "Why don't they
make love stories like Noor? They are always crying
and crying and screaming these people!"
We're only watching Lailat 3eed because it is before 3awza Atgawez...
So Yes! Why don't we have a love story without the depressing moments?
I was chatting with my Friend, Glamourous Monmon, last night
and she told me Zwarat Khamees is nice.
So what are you watching and what do you recommend?

Tidbits Here & There

I haven't posted much because nothing has been happening. Now the boyos are off school my whole life revolves around them. I'm spending most of my time at home, unless I have to go out for a meeting or errands. So yeah... I'm going to post about them a lot! and bore you with the adventures of my boyos ;p
A picture is worth a thousand words!
Oh! I have become an Aunt! 3amma!!! There was a conflict on the name, my brother always wanted Yazeed, and it was Yazeed this and Yazeed that, but at the last minute he changed his mind and named him Ahmed. So we have another Ahmed in the family. My Ahmed is protesting. He says "Ana Ahmed! hatha baby!"
Baby Ahmed is 3asal...and it was love at first sight with him!
As of next week my boyos are starting at their health club… I finally managed to brave the sun and heat outside and go to renew their membership. I might also join them, still thinking about it. We spend our mornings studying and working on a special project or cooking. Or sometimes when they are bored and restless and ready to start a war in my living room, I take them out. Their new addiction, Bowling! We've been spending a lot of time at Cozmos. Ahmed has become a pro at it.
The ball is bigger than his head!
Abdulaziz trying his hand at Billiards... Still needs practice.
I love the Winchester Brothers!
Afternoons, after lunch, I'd lock myself in my room the drapes drawn and its dark and cool, and I catch up on TV Shows I've missed. I think I've mentioned it before, I love paranormal and fantasy shows, always fascinated me. I watched Supernatural season 5, I found it better than season 4, but my favorite were the first two seasons which I watch from time to time, and I love the music! I also watched Blood Ties, based on Tanya Huffs books. I never read them, I'm still not that interested. The show is so and so… Nothing beats True Blood!!! I wish they make something for Anita Blake Vampire Hunter, even if crazy Lurell K. Hamilton doesn't want to sign anything with Hollywood. I loved her first 9 books, but then everything went down hill. The problem she is still being published even with all the negative reviews.

I'm reading Osman's Dream: The Story of the Ottoman Empire 1300-1923 by Caroline Finkel. It is a fun way to brush up on my history. I just love anything related to the Ottoman Empire. It is a 500+ pages book, with lots of references and notes. Very very interesting. If you like History then you will like this book.

Can I say I'm leaving the best for last??

Get ready for Gelato Italiano's Ramadan Flavors!!! Your favorites will be back! And I'm working on two new flavors to add to the list if they work out. So wish me luck!!! ;)

This pic I took last yearof my favorite flavors from

the Ramadan collection.
