Lunch at The Butcher's Den

It was a lazy Friday. No definite plans. We just wanted a quiet family day with good food and then taking the boys to play.
The only thing definite was we wanted to try out The Butchers Den.
It was a first for us. I read so many reviews about the place in the past I thought now was a good time to try it out, and with the cool weather we wanted something hearty to fill us up ;p

Loved the cotton candy. It was so light and whispy.

The boys had a great time turning around in their chairs. It was distracting for us. I could hardly concentrate on the menu and taking proper pictures, and i was afraid they're annoying other diners.

Oh! My! God!!! The sugar rush this boy had!!!

Appetizers: shrimp cocktail. Attacked before I managed to snap a pic.

Parsnip chips. Sweet & Salty. Very yummy! Abdulaziz says it tasted like doughnuts.

I loved the risotto. I ordered for myself but the boys liked it so much they had some of it too. Next time I will not share!

Cream onions & Spinach Quiche. Loved it! And so did the boys who also finished it. Yep! Next time I'm not taking them with me!

Oh! The knives! I love sharp knives!

Which color do you think I chose?

Ahmed ordered the Lasagna.

How is it Ahmed? Thumbs up! He loved it!

Abdulaziz had the burgers. I tried some and it was really good. I might order it again the next time I go there.

Fahad and I ordered the Organic Fillets. We asked for a medium well. Tender, Pink from the inside and very juicy.

Mushroom sauce & creamy mash with onion rings. I loved both.

Even the veggies tasted good.

Passion fruit glaze & raspberry sauce which I ordered out of curiosity. They were not bad but not a favorite.

Ahmed having a deep conversation with one of the staff on the difference between cows and sheep. In his humble opinion, Lamb is the better meat because the lambs are softer :)

The waiter told us the ice cream was made by them so we had to try it. I liked the vanilla and Dulce de Lech. The chocolate was a bit too light to my taste.

Aaaaah! The brownies!!!! Killer!!! Loved it!! The boys had such a high they could hardly sit still in the car!

Overall the whole experience was very good. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. I loved the risotto and the potato mash which I will order the next time I go there, or maybe the burgers. Or try something totally new. So many choices :D
If you haven't tried it yet, then don't miss out!

Picnic Weekend

A while back I got myself a picnic set from Debenhams, a beautiful whicker basket with plate, glass and cutlery set, a matching cooler bag and a rug, and for a long time I imagined filling the basket with goodies and go picnicking with the kids at Marina Crescent or maybe at Shaab park or even put a nice little tent in the desert ;p

Well as the weather got better, I was determind that as soon as I had the time I will give my new picnic set a try. Last weekend the weather turned out to be fabulous! I woke up in the morning and told the boys to get ready and call their friend and see if he wants to join us.

It was such an impormtu picnic. At first I thought I was out of my head because I haven't planned for anything. I took a deep breath and said everything will work out. I already have chopped fruits in the fridge, a pound cake I bought the day before, candy, water, juice and chocolate milk we're never out of. I only made the chai latte and decided to buy the main meal from Zaatar w Zait. We took the bikes the ball and other outdoor games with us.

It was a good plan! As it turned out, the weather was amazing, the food very yummy and most important the boys experienced something new and had a lot of fun!

"Mama... we want to picnic every week!" They said to me after we returned home. Better go on a picnic and be active in the open air than cooped up in one of the arcades.

Inside the basket

Inside the cooler. I filled it with ice
to keep the drinks cool, and it is big
to store a lot of things besides the drinks

All set and ready! I love my new set.
But Ahmed decided to spill some chocolate milk on the rug,
I've been trying to clean it up ever since but the stain wouldn't go.

Picnic breakfast from Zaatar w Zait. Love their food.
We had an open egg and cheese pizza, margharita, Zaatar,
and haloum and veggies sandwiches.

Here are the boys. Loving thier frist picnic experience.

Delicious LuScious

Few weeks ago, I hope not too long ago. I was invited to the opening of LuScious Store at AlTijariya Tower, by the one and only gorgeous Hala Abu AlHassan also known as Dudette from Haji Dude Blog. In the store she presents her fashionable designs made from different fabrics and textures in gorgeous eye catching colors. And for a person who loves colors I went gaga. They are the kind of clothing you'd wear going out with friends or at receptions or just to feel good lounging at home. Yeah... I do that sometimes, I put on my best dress and lounge around home ;p  Amazing job Hala :) Mashallah!

I really do recommend you stop by the store  at AlTijariya Mall Mizzanine for something hip and extravagant in color and fabrics. It is a very Delicious LuScious!

Gorgeous Hala <3 font="font">

I loved this dress. Loved! Loved! Loved it!

Gorgeous colorful dresses, tops and pants.
Not to be missed!

You can also find very exquisite accessories.
I took two of theserings...
can you guess which ones?

Friday Pasta

Today's pasta is all about clearing what I had in my fridge. Mix tomato pasta sauce with mascaropone cheese, Parmesan cheese and cooked chicken, salt & pepper. Then add the mixture to cooked pasta of your choice and bake for twenty minutes.
Enjoy!

A Quick Trip

Few weeks back my friend and I decided over breakfast to go to Dubai for a day.
Just going on the plane was enough change for us ;p
It was a quick trip... We had lots of fun just walking around in Dubai mall window shopping and enjoying the atmosphere and yummy foods.
Being a foodie it's only natural that I'm drawn to snap pics of foods.
I leave you with the pics :)

We took Jazeera very early in the morning. Im not a fan of Jazeera but it was the
only flight available at short notice.

As soon as we arrived at Dubai mall we headed at Cheese cake factory for breakfast.

A yummy selection of cheese cakes... Unfortunately were so full from breakfast
we didn't get to try the cheese cakes.

I wanted to try this... Maybe next time inshallah.

My Latte

I loved their Napoleon French toast <3 br="br" craving="craving" i="i" it="it" m="m" now.="now." right="right">

Their Monte Cristo was very yummy too... But the portions were just too
big even for two gourmets like us.

While browsing through the shops La Cure Gourmande attracted my attention and we went in...
They have the best candy I've every tried.

Their nougat were soft and chewy. And their Caramels (not pictures) just melts in my mouth.

I love the colorful array of their packaging <3 br="br">

Yummy chocolates

One of the reasons I went to Dubai was for the Organic food cafe. The last time I was there I got from them some tea and I was running out of it. Unfortunately I didn't find the tea i was looking for :(

I should have got this mental health tea for women now that school has started and
as always Abdulaziz and Ahmed driving me crazy ;(

Random shots
The fountain at Dubai Mall

I wished I have brought the boys
Well not really...maybe some other time ;p

I loved these lunch boxes and when I snapped a shot and sent it to the boys to chose
which one they wanted. Ahmed sent me a voice message "Mama I'm not a baby!"

Loool! Funny card which got for Fahad :p

Peanut butter Reese's sauce at Hershy's World...

I love Reese's products <3 br="br">

My second reason for going to Dubai is to Book World... I had my book list with me so I wouldn't waste time browsing (even though I wanted to camp in there badly)... I got the ones on top of my list... There are some I didn't find... and I was afraid I go crazy and I only had a small bag with me.
Maybe next time :)

Here are the books fantasy & romance... Well that's what I'm in the mood of reading these days.

We had a late lunch at Armani cafe. The last time I ate there I was sick and hardly tasted the food.
It was the first time for my friend so we went.

I ordered a berry cocktail... Which was yum-O

I loved the rocket & Parmesan salad. Loved it!

Their bread basket and the dips which comes with it are mouth watering.

That was my order can't remember the exact name of the dish but the meat just melted in the mouth and the mushroom pudding which comes with it is out of this world!

For dessert we shared a berry tart which was smooth and fresh and the gelato which comes with it was very very delicious <3 br="br">The day passed very quickly and we headed back to the airport very much exhausted... By that time we just wanted to reach home.
It was a wonderful change from routine... I'm really contemplating of going again very soon maybe this time spend few night catch a couple of movie and camp at Book World <3 br="br">Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
