A Very Dathra Party!

OMG!!! Yesterday I felt like a child who is excited to go to a birthday party!!!
You know how a kid keeps telling everybody "I'm going to a birthday party! I'm going to a birthday party! I'm going to a birthday party!"
Well I found myself in the same situation. This month there was so many events' I had to excuse myself from because my kids were sick then I fell sick.

I kept telling everyone I know, "I'm going to a Dathra party! I'm going to a Dathra party! I'm going to a Dathra party!"
I even told the bag boy at TSC… "I'm going to a Dathra party tonight!"
He didn't have any idea what a Dathra party is, and he had that look on his face which said, "Ooook! Crazy lady…. Go away!"
Lool!

An amazing Dathra doll made by Jacquies artistic aunt <3

Anyway now you may wonder what a Dathra Party is. Well it is in Celebration of "The Chronicles of Dathra, a Dowdy Girl from Kuwait" volume 2, written by our one and only Denderma!!
Who is Dathra? She is a girl who has a big heart as much as she is big herself, and finds herself in situations whether funny, heartbreaking or just plain crazy!
Denderma used to post every week a chapter then she collected them before the story was complete and printed them into a book. The book is written in English and some of the dialogue is in Arabish and there is translation to them.

An old fashioned "Dathra" dinner ;p

Now the party!!! It is a very relaxed gathering among sister bloggerettes. The atmosphere took us way back to the 80's – 90's, decorations music, food.

We were supposed to dress in dowdy clothes inspired by the nineties, but since it's my first girls outing and I didn't have anything which fits me from the nineties, I opted for a dera3a and wore some jewelry which I owned since the 90's. Others were more into the spirit of the party and were hilariously dressed in dowdy clothes. Wallah hats off to them!!!
Jacquies, brought with her a Dathra doll made by her fabulous aunt, mashallah, very accurate!!! And adorable!
The food was also Dathra inspired. Almost everything Dathra loves to eat… and the girl loves to eat!!! Now that I think of it… There was no McDonald's at the party!!!
We also celebrated Denderma's early birthday, with a cute fruit cake what we used to consider kash5a back in the 90's, brought by Ansam518.
By the end of the party we had a small competition who is the dowdiest girl. Swera from Crazy Yet Wise won, Duddette was second and Jacquies came third.

Dinner with Sankist!
Love Sankist!!!

Yummy Elba... Kuwaiti style flan.
from AlNory from blog Nora.

Old fashioned candy from Denderma's table.

We all grew up with KDD ice cream...
and this takes me back to summers in Kuwait.

Do you remember this frozen ice cream?
can't remember the name...
but I remember early afternoons going to
the baqala and getting a stick when I spent
summers here in Kuwait.
My favorite was the orange.

Happy Birthday Denderma!!!

Jacquies pink boa!!!

Goodie bag! Yum!

When we left Denderma gave us some goodie bags… let's say amazing and dowdy goodie bags filled with old fashioned candies and chocolates… and a signed copy of the book.

Inside my goodie bag @@

My copy of the book...
and sweet Danderma signed it for me ;*

Love you girl! Wallah ya36eech al3afaya for a wonderful evening.

Pinkgirl Q8, Duddette, Swera, AlNory, Ansam518, Just Noon, Jacquies, The Side Talk and of course Danderma... it was lovely seeing you ;*** lets do this more often :)

You can get your copy of The Chronicles of Dathra, a Dowdy Girl from Kuwait - Volume 2 at 52 Degrees.

Happy Chocolate Day!!!

I confess! I'm a chocolate addict… and the best chocolate… is warm melted chocolate! Pick any of your favorite chocolate brand and and melt it! Then dip your fingers in the bowl and enjoy!
Now if I had a choice, I'd post every chocolaty picture I found on the net! But these are only a few…
Best Ice cream: As a chocolate addict, it is only natural that I concentrate on chocolaty flavors when it comes to Gelato Italiano.
I can't say I have a favorite chocolate flavor because most are so delicious I can't make up my mind.
But when I'm in one of my bad moods, I reach out for the dark chocoalte Gelato, dark and very dense in flavor. And if I name every flavor this post will never end!

This one is milk chocolate with white chocolate marbel.

Favorite Cake: Again... it is the one I make. Devil's food chocolate from scratch not the packs...no..no.. not I! With very dense dark chocolate butter cream. So rich and creamy!
It has been awhile I haven't baked anything...
maybe I'll do something this week...
We'll see.

These are my chocolate crazed cupcakes from
my bakery before I had to close it.

Oh!!! Don't I wish!!!

Yes... I melt chocolate and enjoy it very warm!!!
Yum!
My favorite chocolate.... I don't have a favorite
I love them all!!!

Of course ma yabeela! best chocolate milk goes to KDD Chocolate Milk!!!!
A childhood favorite and so my kids love it!
Now that I'm looking at the pic...
I think I will pour me a glass of KDD chocolate milk
*sigh*

TV Shows

So… with a none existant social life, I've been catching up on some TV shows on OSN, such as … GBC a very hilarious show. I've read that Christians in the States were offended by the show.  The show could be about Muslims, Jews or even Hindus. In the end they are human and not perfect, and bound to be nasty, gossipy and greedy. It is reality and humanity.
I love watching it because it is so funny! I can really imagine Haya Sh3abi with her new look as Carlene Cockburn (Kristin Chonewoth), if they make the series in Arabic. Too bad the show has been cancelled.

Scandal is just breathtaking!!! The drama and the pace of the story kept me on edge wanting more of the series. It is an amazing show!
The characters are diverse and had so much back story to them which still haven't been told in this season.
I still haven't read any of the reviews regarding the show and I'm not sure if it has been picked up or cancelled.
I hope there will be more to it.

I missed on season one. I haven't seen what happened but I'm planning to download it soon.
It is such a classic master piece, not to be missed!!! There is just too much to the story I can't sum it up in one paragraph. However I highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

Summer So Far

Since the beginning of the summer, my kids got a very strong flu. First it started with Ahmed, and then Abdulaziz followed right after him and now me. I'm hoping Fahad will not catch it, inshallah. It is taking forever for us to recover. Ahmed started with antibiotics but they didn't do anything, he was given a three days of injection for the virus and the awful cough which takes his breath away and turn his lips blue from lack of oxygen. If you are a follower on instagram then you would have seen the pictures of my baby at the clinic.
Abdulaziz is on his second week of antibiotics, he is doing a bit much better, alhamdullah, although the dry cough hits him hard in the evening. I'm giving him two kinds of cough syrups, alternating between the two and barely working.
Now I am sick. Same symptoms as my kids had. I have an event today which I've been looking forward to attend but I had to cancel because my cough is so bad. I'm wheezing as I'm typing this post! Cough! Cough! I'm sick of being sick!

Adopting the Kesha!
Since I'm not socializing at all... so what's the point in doing my hair… right?
Well the reason I'm not blow drying my hair is I want to give it some rest by leaving it to air dry. It isn't nice when it's frizzy. I look like a mad crazed woman, especially when I lose my temper with the boys and my hair flying all over the place like the snakes of Medusa.
Well… not that dramatic.
Some friends told me about a couple of clinic which are specialized in hair therapy, I'm going to check them out. My hair needs rescuing it is falling none stop. Sometimes I want to shave it off and work on nourishing the roots and scalp and let it grow all over thick and healthy as it used to be.  What do you think… should I go a la Britney?

Apart from being sick, I have put the boys in summer school at KES. It is a four week program and unfortunately each of them attended only two weeks of it. Ahmed missed the first two weeks and Abdulaziz, if he isn't getting well soon he will miss a second week and last of the program. But they are having a lot of fun there and making new friends.
When I ask Ahmed "How was your day?"
He answers, "Ajeeeb!!!"
At home I'm concentrating on English since I have finally transferred them out of the French School. We are reading lots of books in English and I got them Summer Bridge activity book and we're doing exercises everyday… just keeping them busy!

Well that it's folks… just a short summery of what I've been doing and I hope you're having a better time than me ;)
