Kony 2012

This has gone on far too long!
Where are the Super Powers in this World??
Why haven't they put a stop to Kony all those years???
28 years!!!
Or isn't there any oil in Uganda to draw the Super Powers
 attention to this place???
Children! Children are dying!
They are abducted from their homes, used as sex slaves
and soldiers in Kony's army!
Till when?

I watched it twice.
First in mute because the kids were close by
and honestly I didn't want to draw their attention to it.
Half way through I'm chocking!!!
Just by reading the haunted and terrified look on Jacabos face!
After sending them to their room, I turned on again
and watched the whole video, and I can't stop crying.
I hope 2012 is the end of Kony, and may he rot in hell!

Young Chef's Academy

Last Friday we spent the whole day at Discovery Mall with the boys. After lunch the boys wanted to play at Goal. However the game wasn't to Ahmed's liking. He thought it was like his birthday, he gets the ball to himself. So what does cranky Ahmed does? Yep he throws one of his "Super Tantrums" which I ignored until it passed. People passed by looking at him wondering why this kids was speaking to himself. "Te7el6em"!
So after he calmed down I suggested to him to try "Young Chef Academy" since he liked to cook. I know it has been opened for a while but I haven't taken the kids to it. I convinced my cranky "Petit Gourmand" to check it out. So after going through their mini menu from making pizza to decorating cupcakes and other yummy items, we decided to try out the Oreo Truffles.

Ahmed was shown into an open kitchen after washing his hands and given a very cute apron. Chef Jake, a very sweet man, assisted him and guided him through the recipe. I can see he was enjoying the experience and his bad mood evaporating. Oh yes!!! The boy is finally smiling!

It was a simple recipe and after he was done the chef told him he had to wait at least 15min for the chocolate to cool off in the freezer. Ahmed didn't want to go anywhere fearing someone might take his truffles ;p

When he got his truffles, Chef Jake gave us a paper with the recipe. Of course "Petit Gourmand" didn't want to share. I had to trick him to get one truffle!

It was a very enjoyable experience, and I'm really contemplating of inviting some of his friends and take them there.

 Is Mr. Cranky smiling?
Look at that cute apron!

 Cracking the cookies
and venting his temper...
wallah a very good tantrum management
therapy ;p

Mixing and Mushing the ingredients together...
another very good type of therapy!

He wouldn't let me take a pic of his mixture!

Moulding the truffles into little balls.

 Et voila!

 Covering the Oreos in chocolate

 Yummy!
I wanted to have one 'cause I felt it will be goowey
and extra sweet because Ahmedan made
them with his own hands!

Putting extra crushed cookies on the truffles.

AlNathafa min AlEman!

 Mercy!
A really smile!!!!
And he didn't want to share his truffles!

Happy International Women's Day!

Happy International Women's Day
to all my sisters around the world!!!
Women Rule!!!!

I consider myself lucky to be born into a society where I've got a voice which can express itself and refuses to be silenced!

I'm lucky to have a father, a husband, sons, brothers, male members of the family and male friends who love and respect me,
not only as a woman but as an equal.

Afganistan is the most dangerous place women lives in.

I would like to also point out, not to forget our sisters in Afghanistan who live in the worst and dangerous part of the world for women. We have to find a way to help them!

Movie Review - 50/50

Inspired by a true story: Adam Lerner has a pretty great life -- with a talented, sexy artist girlfriend and a cool job with NPR, the 27-year old seems to have it all. But when Adam discovers he has a rare and possibly fatal form of cancer, his entire life turns to chaos.

As his world starts to unravel in every way, Adam finds himself dealing with the wellmeaning but totally outrageous attempts by his friends and family to make it all better. His best friend, Kyle, uses Adam's condition to lure girls into sympathy sex, his overbearing mother loses sight of him in her own fears, his otherwise-occupied girlfriend, Rachael tries to distract herself an increasingly frantic social life, and Katherine, the inexperienced therapist assigned to his case, struggles to keep up with the needs of her third client ever.

Yes, it is heartbreaking, funny and heartwarming. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.

What I'm Reading

I've started rereading my Game of Thrones books again. I love those series but they are so intense and I had to stop, and in between, read other lighter books.  I'm so excited that Season 2 for the series will start very soon on OSN!

I've finished reading Katie McAlister's "Love in the Time of
Dragons". It is a fantasy romance, entertaining for a couple of days read, and a quick change, but not kept as a reread.

Yesterday I've started on "A Discovery of Witches"  by Deborah Harkness, another fantasy romance, and it seems pretty interesting. I can't put the book down.

Back to Civilization!

I have been disconnected from the world after I faced problems with my computer. I couldn't even access my emails!!! (See! I'm not ignoring anyone!)

Anyway I'm back to posting
Inshallah.
